HKJC Pre-Season Carnival a day full of entertainment and fun for the entire family

21/08/2014

The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Pre-Season Carnival (photo 1), an ever-popular outdoor event for families each summer, will be held this year on Saturday 6 September at Sha Tin Racecourse.  Tickets will be available from 25 August onwards.

This year's Carnival will be bigger and better than ever, with new initiatives such as workshops and photo corners themed on famous characters from local designers Chocolate Rain and Bigsoil.  With Mid-Autumn Festival just around the corner, children will be able to experience the fun of making their own mooncakes under the guidance of the Club’s chef.  There will also be huge inflatables, must-visit game booths, parent-child workshops and themed photo corners (photo 2, 3).

Among the interactive games and workshops on offer will be:

  • Chocolate Rain Photo Zone – Popular character Fatina, created by local designer Prudence Mak from Chocolate Rain, will dress up in jockey silks for photo-taking (photo 4).
  • Bigsoil Fun Fun workshop Little Boy, another well-known character created by local designer Bigsoil, will also be on hand to pose for photo taking.  In addition, children can join a hand-made polar bear and postcard workshop at this attraction (photo 5).
  • My Little Chef – An experienced Club chef will teach children how to make mooncakes.  Participant can make two mooncakes each to share with their families.
  • 3Doodler Painting Workshop – This unique attraction will feature the world's first 3D pen, allowing children to draw in the air and lift their imagination off the page (photo 6).
  • WMI Interactive Playroup – Another very innovative attraction offering a sensory area for children to learn more about horses.

  • World-class Clowning With her coloured wigs, vivid make-up and outlandish costumes, Champion of the World Clown Competition Ashida (Noisy Chao Chao) will showcase her skills to delight children and adults alike (photo 7).
  • Now TV Cartoon Wonderland – now TV Cartoon Channel ambassador NaNa, together with characters from Bob The Builder, will meet and greet children and take the stage for a series of fun performances.
