HAMMER KING (V034) - 13 March 2016 V RACE 6, BUKIT TIMAH HANDICAP

10/03/2016

The Stewards have spoken with Trainer Ricky P F Yiu regarding his application to remove the Ring Bit and add a Lugging Bit to the gear carried by HAMMER KING, a declared starter in the Bukit Timah Handicap (Race 6, Class 4, 1200 Metres) to be conducted at the Sha Tin race meeting on Sunday, 13 March 2016. HAMMER KING was successful at its most recent race start over the course and distance on 21 February 2016 when racing with Blinkers and a Ring Bit.

Mr Yiu explained that in its recent race starts and in particular during the latter stages of its most recent race start, HAMMER KING proved difficult to ride and hung in under pressure. As such, he applied a Lugging Bit to the horse in its subsequent trackwork and he is satisfied that the addition of this piece of equipment will assist the horse in racing more tractably.

Having considered the merits of Mr Yiu’s application, the Stewards have approved for HAMMER KING to race with Blinkers and a Lugging Bit in the stated race.
