Public holiday festivities at the National Day Races

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will host its annual National Day Race Meeting (Photo 1) at Sha Tin Racecourse on Saturday, 1 October, featuring festive performances from world-acclaimed artists, as well as thrilling sporting action. National Day-themed souvenirs and special cuisine will also be available on course. Tourists to Hong Kong will be offered free admission.

Cultural performances usher in a day of celebration
The day's festivities will begin at noon in the Parade Ring with mezzo-soprano Shasha Niu, of the China National Opera House (Photo 2), performing the Chinese national anthem as well as other famous melodies, accompanied by the Hong Kong Police Band. The world-famous performance group, Tianjin Acrobatic Troupe (Photo 3), will also be there to present their "Group Foot Juggling Act", a cultural performance that is sure to get the day off to a thrilling start.

Special cuisine to savour
To mark the National Day, a variety of speciality dishes from famous cities across China will be available throughout the racecourse for your dining enjoyment.

Limited edition souvenir covers available for sale
The Hong Kong Jockey Club is honoured to have joined forces again with the Xu Beihong Arts Committee and The Hong Kong Post to issue unique collectibles, this time combining the image of the legendary painting Jin Ri Chi with 2015/16 Horse of the Year Werther and last year’s National Day Cup winner Not Listenin'tome. Each souvenir cover is an extraordinary memento. The limited edition covers are of great collectible value and will be available in Souvenir Envelope Set (HK$190) (Photo 9) and Deluxe Stamp Box Set (HK$680) (Photo 10). They will be on limited offer on race day only, and can be obtained from designated sales counters including Gift at Races Flagship Store at Sha Tin Racecourse, while stocks last.

A day of free admission for tourists to Hong Kong
Tourists to Hong Kong will be offered free admission at Sha Tin Racecourse for the National Day Race Meeting (1 October) on entering the Public Enclosure (with the exception of fee-charging venues) by showing their valid travel documents. 

Feature races
Top-class sporting action is assured with the running of the season’s first two Group 3 races – the 1000m National Day Cup and the 1400m Celebration Cup. Ten races are programmed for the National Day Race Meeting, with the first starting at 1:00 pm.  Sha Tin Racecourse will open at 11:00 am on 1 October.
