SEA JADE - Race 1 V Cuckoo Handicap - 16 October 2016 Sha Tin Racemeeting

13/10/2016

The Stewards have spoken to Trainer John Moore regarding his application to remove the Ring Bit from the equipment carried by SEA JADE in races and for the horse to wear a Snaffle Bit and cheekers and to continue to wear Sheepskin Cheek Pieces.

Mr Moore stated that following the horse’s last start success he had noted that the horse was getting its tongue over the bit on a number of occasions in its track work.  He therefore spoke to Jockey Sam Clipperton, who rode SEA JADE at its last start about this matter and it was agreed to change the horse’s equipment to remove the Ring Bit and add a Snaffle Bit and cheekers in track work.  Following the horse working in this equipment it had accepted the change of equipment well and had not got its tongue over the bit.

After considering the merits of Mr Moore’s application and after having consulted Jockey Clipperton in respect of this matter, the Stewards have approved the gear change.  The horse will therefore carry a Snaffle Bit, cheekers and Sheepskin Cheek Pieces in the stated race.
