G1 – 2400m – Turf

1

Bateel

A Listed race winner over this distance at Newmarket back in June and returned from an absence to run a respectable fifth in a 2000m G1 at Deauville in August when the distance was probably too short and the ground certainly faster than her ideal - which is soft.

2

Bocca Baciata

The only time she has raced over this far was in this event last year when she finished quite a close fifth behind Simple Verse. Back for another crack but not seen since running a dismal last of ten in a G1 at Deauville.

3

California

Has stamina for further than this, having won a G3 over 2800m on her penultimate start. Although her four career wins have come on faster ground than this her trainer is convinced she won't be inconvenienced by a slow surface.

4

Journey

Second in this last year and her trainer has long declared this her main 2016 target. Her victory in a Newmarket Listed event over 2400m last month was very promising as it came after a break and despite racing too keenly. Expect to see her stretching her rivals from the front.

5

Maleficent Queen

Her rating kept rising with a string of handicap victories earlier in her career. However no evidence so far that she can cope with this class and, in a Listed event over 2000m at Ayr last time, she charged off in front but ran right out of gas late on.

6

Speedy Boarding

Newmarket-trained but has an amazing record when crossing to France, winning all three starts there including the G1 Prix de L'Opera Longines (2000m) at Chantilly this month, racing prominently and fighting back hard when pressed. She now needs to prove herself effective at 2400m.

7

Zhukova

A highly progressive filly, gaining her fourth straight win under an aggressive ride in a G3 at Leopardstown (2400m) last month, seeing off Epsom Derby runner-up US Army Ranger. She certainly deserves this first venture into G1 company.

8

Architecture

Second in the G1 Oaks (2409m) at Epsom in June, a clear career highpoint according to the numbers. Respectable efforts since without building on her Epsom achievements, and hard to fancy her here unless others underperform.

9

Even Song

Has been beaten a long way on her last two starts. However on slow ground at Royal Ascot back in June, she had surged to a clear-cut victory in a G2 over this distance and she'd have a chance back in that shape.

10

Pretty Perfect

This strong stayer is likely to push the pace, tactics that have seen her run well on her last two starts, latterly when a neck second in a G2 over further than this at Doncaster - skipping clear before getting caught close to the wire.

11

Promising Run

Major distance concerns as she has never attempted this trip. She was good enough to win a G3 over 1600m in Turkey in September, but that was not a strong event. Making some late headway when fourth in a 1600m Listed event at Newmarket last time.

12

Queen’s Trust

Her only win came in a maiden, but she is proven in Group company and made another step forward when 4 lengths third to superstar fillies Seventh Heaven and Found in a 2400m G1 at York in August. She'll need to take another step forward here.

13

Seventh Heaven

The value of her G1 victory at York in August looks stronger than ever now that Found - her nearest victim - subsequently won the Arc at Chantilly this month. This massive filly covers a lot of ground and just seems to get better and better. Possible slow ground is a concern, however.
