29/10/2016

Listed – 1800m – Turf

1

Jacquinot Bay

Ultra consistent performer who was caught wide, without cover, throughout when 2.7 lengths 7th to He’s Our Rokkii in G1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on 8 October.

2

Lidari

Doing best work late when 5.75 lengths 10th to Ulmann in Listed Headquarters Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on 2 October. Then led and held on well when 1 length 2nd to The United Stakes in G2 Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley on 22 October.

3

Auvray

Struggled at first run this season when 12 lengths 15th to Ulmann in Listed Headquarters Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on 2 October. Extra 400m helps but may need even further.

4

Turnitaround

Very good on-pace effort when 1.8 lengths 3rd to Voodoo Lad in G3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 15 October at first run this season. Suited at longer trip.

5

Closing Bell

USA import now with Chris Waller. Not raced since 10 June when 5.5 lengths 4th to Da Big Hoss in Belmont 3200m Gold Cup Invitational (Listed race). Won two races in America at 1700m and 2112m. Moreira rides.

6

Sertorius

Fair performance at first run this season when 4.1 lengths 10th to Voodoo Lad in G3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 15 October. Fitter for that run and this distance more suitable.

7

Magnapal

Freshened since out of character failure when 14.6 lengths 9th to Real Love in G3 JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 30 September. Some chance on earlier form although does not have great record at this track.

8

Desert Jeuney

Winner this track and trip but has to improve sharply on two runs this season. Latest was almost 20 lengths last of eight behind First Course in Listed Sale Cup (1600m) on 23 October. That was on heavy ground. Drier track would help.

9

Hi World

Ran very well when 2.5 lengths 4th behind stablemate Authoritarian in Moe Cup (2050m) on 13 October. Most effective on soft ground. Wide draw may be an issue.

10

Tashbeeh

Little below best form at past two but distance does suit. Jockey felt ground may have been too firm for him when 4.75 lengths 9th Ulmann in Listed Headquarters Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on 2 October.

11

Tucanchoo

Satisfactory effort at first run this season when 4.5 lengths 7th to Chetwood in Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 8 October. Step up in distance is a plus.

12

Observational

Back to 1800m after 6.8 lengths 5th to Real Love in G3 JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 30 September when had little luck in running. Changed stables since that run.

13

Tarquin

Enjoyed good run, battled on well when 1.5 lengths 2nd to Lord Durante in Moonee Valley 2040m Handicap on 21 October. Racing well and drawn for good run.

14

Fabrizio

Front-runner who went too quickly on the speed when 3.5 lengths 10th to Hauraki in G1 Epsom Handicap at Randwick on 1 October. Then better rated to lead throughout Randwick 1600m BM 93 on 15 October when won by 4.3 lengths from Iggi Pop.

15

First Course

Led throughout to win the Listed Sale Cup (1600m) on heavy ground on 23 October by a nose from Cool Chap. That was first run since August. Relishes wet tracks but also capable on better ground.

16

Coldstone

French import who covered ground in Australian debut when 10.7 lengths 11th to Chetwood in Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 8 October. Expect better.

17

Plot The Course

Ran on well in half length win from Pilote D’essai in Caulfield 1600m BM 90 Handicap on 12 October. Good chance with any luck from inside draw.

18

Muraqaba

Good on pace win at first run this season when scored by nose from Choice We Had in Randwick 1400m BM 78 Handicap. Has won up to 1900m so rise in trip no issue.

Reserves

19

Curragh

Good win by 1.75 lengths from subsequent winner The Chairman in Moe 1600m BM 78 Handicap on 13 October. Sound effort when 1 length 2nd to Black Sheep in Moonee Valley BM 78 Handicap (1600m) on 28 October. Up in class but lightly raced and show good promise.

20

Curren Glass Jaw

Stablemate to Melbourne Cup runner Curren Mirotic and hard to make a case for him here on poor recent form in Japan and record of just two wins in 30 starts.
