Class 4 Handicap (1) - Form Comments

17/11/2016

1000m Polytrack

1

Red Dawn

25 starts for four wins, all over 1200m on turf. He rarely races on the alternate track but was entered in a similar 1000m Poly race last start and was well supported. He did not do that badly when finishing fourth. Don't rule him out despite the short trip.

2

Mastermind

29 starts for four wins, all over the Poly 1000m. This out-and-out sprinter, who can go like the clappers, has no form. He has been unplaced in his last six starts. His last win was in June in a similar Class 4 event.

3

Elise

19 starts for four wins, all over 1200m on turf. He puts in the occasional good run on the Poly, like two starts back, when third to a rising star, the unbeaten Nova Swiss, over 1000m. Last time out, he could beat only one home in a similar affair. Rather give it a miss.

4

Lim's Shine

This four-year-old bay New Zealand-bred newcomer to Singapore is by Swiss Ace out of Jester Hit. He finished a 4.7-length fourth in his trial. He had eight starts in New Zealand for a win over 1200m (yielding) in 1:11.67 with 122 pounds at Awapuni. He was second four times and third twice from 1000m-1200m (good, yielding and soft).

5

Shadow Of War

He won both his trials and lived up to that form by scoring first-up by leading throughout over the Poly 1100m. He is on the improve and nearly won his trial earlier this month when a 0.1-length second. He looks capable of making it two-up.

6

Dream Comes True

Four starts for a win over 1200m on turf. This trial winner was strongly backed in his debut but could only finish a 2.1-length fourth. He made amends in his next start. Although he ran fifth and seventh in his last two starts, he wasn't far away from the winners.

7

Fat Power

24 starts for three wins, twice over the Poly 1000m. His recent form is anything but inspiring, chalking up a losing sequence of eight starts since his last success in October last year. He used to lead big but didn't show that front-running style in recent runs.

8

Happy Happy

24 starts for three wins, over 1200m on Poly and turf. Two of his victories were in 2014 and one last year, so it has been a long time between drinks. Unplaced in his last three starts, he has not raced since June. He disputed the lead in his recent trial but faded away gradually.

9

Hiko Yunikon

27 starts for three wins, all over the Poly and once over the 1000m. He seems to be knocking on the door with three placings in his last four starts. Last time out, he flashed home a neck second over the 1000m. He deserves a winning break.

10

Lucky Six

33 starts for three wins, all over the Poly and twice over 1000m. His recent form is quite good, with a win, a second and a last-start fourth in his last four outings. With no weight on his back, Lady Luck can smile on this on-pace runner and offer value.

11

Stock Broker

38 starts for three wins, all over the Poly 1000m. His last win was in July but his form tapered off after that. Since then, he has been unplaced in six starts. However, he was not far behind the winners. He can pop up at a price.

12

Cool Cat

71 starts for seven wins, from 1100m to 1400m on Poly and turf. Although he is already 10 years old, he doesn't seem to be lagging behind. He was placed in two of his last three outings. Last start, he ran third over the 1000m which is a tad short.

13

Delfyne

14 starts for a win over the Poly 1000m. After her only win in October last year, she had two more starts before being spelled for six-and-a-half months. On resuming, she finished in the rear in all three starts. Prefer others.
