1800m Turf

1

Gold Hill

17 starts for a win over 1400m on turf. He has been placed over the 1800m trip but his form this campaign is not sparkling. He resumed from a year's spell to beat only one home on 9 Oct and followed up last start by beating only two home. Prefer others.

2

Reddot Rising

Eight starts for two wins, over 1200m and 1400m on turf. He was very unlucky last start when second over 1600m. His rider's protest against the first horse past the post for alleged interference was overruled. He is accumulating the miles to go the distance.

3

Murdoch

Eight starts for two wins, both over 1400m on turf. He scored his second win three starts back and has progressively increased his race distance. He finished fifth over 1600m at the penultimate run and improved a bit to finish fourth over the 1800m. Value.

4

Lim's Elusive

15 starts for two wins, over 1400m turf and 1600m Poly. Coming in for some betting two starts back, he nearly delivered a betting coup when he flew home a short head second over the Poly 1000m. Last start over 1400m, he was a beaten fancy. Untested beyond 1600m.

5

Martin

60 starts for seven wins, from 1400m to 2400m, all on turf. He has even won a Group 3 race but that was long ago and his rating has since dropped from a high of 96 to 57. His most recent best effort was a second four starts back over 1600m. For the bold only.

6

Precious Gem

34 starts for five wins, including over the 1800m. Two starts back, he went with the pace to finish second over the 1800m and last start he finished a 2.9-length sixth over the same trip, so he's kind of getting geared up for another sting.

7

Eclipse Dancer

17 starts for two wins, both over 1600m on Poly and turf. Since he resumed from a half-year spell last month, he has had three starts and all were plain, so he's hard to recommend form-wise.

8

Higher Soul

26 starts for three wins, once over the 1800m. Last start, he took part in the Group 3 El Dorado Classic over 2200m and did not do too badly, finishing 3.5 lengths behind the winner. Before that, he scored over the 1800m. Now back to a level playing field and a smart gallop on Tuesday, he should go well.

9

Golden Peninsula

Four starts for a win over 1400m. He resumed from a four-month spell to finish fourth and 1400m and stepped up on that run to score last time out over the same distance. He looks a nice horse and is bound to improve further but could be testing 1800m a bit soon.

10

Golazo

10 starts for two wins, once over the 1800m. His two wins came in April-May but he has not finished in the top three in his four subsequent starts. Last time out, he was just plain over the 1800m but, given the right run, he can produce a great turn of foot to surprise.

11

Insofar

11 starts for two wins, both over 1600m on turf and Poly. Like Golazo, both his back-to-back wins came in April-May. After that his three runs were anything but inspiring.

12

Glorious Prospect

12 starts for a win over 1600m on turf. That upset victory came only two starts back. Before that his form left much to be desired. After the win, he was thrown into the deep end by contesting the Group 3 El Dorado Classic over 2200m but he finished a distant ninth. He is back to where he has some chance but don't go ga-ga.

13

Speed Craft

20 starts for three wins, all on the Polytrack and twice over the 1800m. This grey has found a new lease of life after joining trainer Daniel Meagher's yards. His last four starts yielded back-to-back successes, a second and a last-start fourth. He looks a light weight chance but his chances will be greatly enhanced if this is on the Poly.

14

Humdinger

14 starts for two wins, both over 1400m on turf. He has tried 1800m and 2000m on turf but bombed. He has no recent form to speak of and it would be prudent to steer clear although he finished only three lengths behind over 1800m last start.
