LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint - Post-race quotes

11/12/2016

1st - Aerovelocity, jockey, Zac Purton
“It’s a good feeling because we were of the opinion that we’re starting to lose him. And we know he’s a warrior and he gives everything he’s got and although he didn’t perform at his best today, his heart is so big that he’s able to give us that effort. Paul had fine-tuned him and dropped the extra little pounds that he was carrying and got him as best as he could for today so he’s done a great job. We had a lovely run in the race and he came out and he was just able to amble up. It was hard fought in the end, but he is all heart.”

2nd - Lucky Bubbles, jockey, Brett Prebble
“It was a pretty rough race and I got shuffled back a little bit more than I would have liked. There are few jocks playing jockeys out there. If I got out early he wins, full stop. He is the best horse in the race. There is no better horse than Lucky Bubbles at the moment.”

3rd - Peniaphobia, jockey, Silvestre de Sousa
“He ran a good race. It is not an excuse but the horse on my outside pressured me a little bit earlier than I would have liked to but I am happy with him.”

4th - Amazing Kids, jockey, Joao Moreira
“He ran great, very proud of his effort today.”

5th - Signs Of Blessing, jockey, Stephane Pasquier
“The draw meant I had to wait a bit too long. He gave me a good turn of foot, but the outside draw meant it was too late.”

Trainer, Francois Rohaut
“We had to ride him against the way he usually likes to be because of the draw. We know we have a super horse who is well up to this level and he will win this next year, as simple as that. We won't let the owner draw his stall number though!”

6th - Takedown, jockey, Tim Clark
“He ran well – he just did not show much early speed. He kept working along the whole way.”

7th - Not Listenin’tome, jockey, Hugh Bowman
“He didn’t have as smooth a run as last time and didn’t finish off as well either.”

8th - Super Jockey, jockey, Karis Teetan
“He had to work a bit to get there and when I entered the straight he faded.”

9th – Strathmore, jockey, Neil Callan
“He ran respectable. He didn’t have a straightforward run into the race but we can expect him to improve during the season.”

10th - Big Arthur, jockey, Ryan Moore
“He was just a bit flat today.”

11th – Rebel Dane, jockey, Ben Melham
“Not much to say really. He just didn’t have it today.”

12th - Red Falx, jockey, Mirco Demuro
“He got a good position, but he had a pressure from horse inside of us, who tried to find a room.  My horse did not stride out well in the stretch.”

13th - Growl, jockey, Graham Lee
“I was behind Ryan Moore [Big Arthur]. We were a bit deep and he has gone to the bend and said what is that.”
