2

Le Romain

Chasing fourth straight win. Won G1 Cantala Stakes at 1600m last October. Then won first-up at 1200m before strong finishing nose win from Chautauqua in G1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 4 March. Capable all conditions.

3

Hauraki

Made late ground when 3.1 lengths 3rd to Le Romain in G1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 4 March. That was first run since November when runner-up in G1 Emirates Stakes at 2000m. Has good record this track and OK wet or dry.

4

Tosen Stardom

Japanese import whose two runs for Weir stable have been very good. Returned from break of almost five months with excellent nose 2nd to stablemate Black Heart Bart in G1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 25 February. Most of his racing has been on firm ground but has one slow track win to credit.

5

Leebaz

Vet reported no abnormality after failure last start when 11.2 lengths last of seven behind Mccreery in G3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 25 February. Eight of nine wins on good rated tracks.

6

Mccreery

Ran on well in impressive one length win from Arod in G3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 25 February. That was first run since one length 2nd to Le Romain in G1 Cantala Stakes at 1600m. Not as well suited under WFA conditions but had good overall record and capable all conditions.

7

Endless Drama

Irish import who has finished 6.8 and 7.2 lengths behind Winx at past two starts. Latest, finished sixth behind the mare in the G1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 25 February. Handles but possibly better on good rated tracks.

8

Winx

Champion mare and world’s top rated turf performer. Chases 16th consecutive win and her 11th at G1 level. Typically dominant when comfortable 2 lengths winner from Lasqueti Spirit in G1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) on heavy ground at Randwick on 25 February.

9

Sylpheed

Three-year-old filly taking on the older horses here. Three fillies have won this race but most recent was in 1986. Latest effort was closing 3.4 lengths 4th to All Over Bosanova in Eagle Farm 1200m 3YO Handicap on 18 February. Has not raced on soft ground.
