Bon Mercredi! Le French May, the vibrant celebration of French culture will again have a Happy Wednesday edition when three internationally acclaimed performing troupes will wow the Valley crowd at the French-themed parties on 10, 17 and 24 May (Photos 1,2,3,4). The Parisian party vibe is set to bring top entertainment and a selection of French food and wines. Feature races on the track will include the France Galop Cup and the Le French May Trophy on 17 May, plus the Sauternes Cup on 24 May. Expedia travel vouchers valued at $6,000 each are also up for grabs in on-course games.
Acclaimed artistes bring festive mood with fabulous performances
Happy Valley continues to be one of the city’s key destinations for performing troupes travelling in from far and wide. This year’s Le French May Art Festival features three performances of music, dance and acrobatics.
10 May - Shumking Mansion’s Indie sounds
17 May - The Swaggers, featuring an energetic performance by French choreographer Marion Motin
24 May - Les Dudes’ acrobatic moves
French wine and cuisine to delight the palate
Simply dé licieux and an ode to the French, there will be a selection of wines from the likes of Burgundy and Bordeaux for fans’ tasting pleasure. What’s more, the trackside kiosks offer a mouthwatering array of special delicacies crafted exclusively for the May parties.

Each race night, the customer taking the photo selected as the best of the evening will be awarded an Expedia travel voucher valued at $6,000. Racegoers can enjoy complimentary French-themed makeup by Make Up For Ever, to complete their French looks with lovely motifs in all things blue, red and white. The best photo from the “Jockeys of France” interactive game will be awarded with a bottle of red wine.
Le French May offerings at The Gallery
The Gallery will be buzzing as always when a “French Masquerade Party” will be held on the second and final editions of the French-themed parties. Fans can join the party vibe with their choice of exquisite masks. On 17 May, popular local artiste JW will join the event as a special guest (Photo 15); on the same night, customers who don French costume may join the Best Dressed Award, with one racecourse meal voucher valued at HK$800 offered as the prize.
