G1 - 2100m – Turf

1

Brametot

Has won five of his six starts and his courageous G1 victory in the French 2000 Guineas at Deauville last month was a career best. His trainer believes he's fresh enough after that big show, and pedigree suggests that he could be even better over this longer trip.

2

Waldgeist

Strong at the finish when winning a G1 over 2000m at Saint-Cloud last October. He couldn't cope with Recoletos in a G2 back at Saint-Cloud on his 2017 return and, over just a slightly longer trip, a brisk pace will help as he looks more stamina than speed.

3

Orderofthegarter

A decisive winner of a 1600m Listed event at Leopardstown two starts back, and then heavily backed to win the French 2000 Guineas at Deauville last month. He led the stands' side group there before fading late on, 9 1/4L fifth behind Brametot.

4

Taj Mahal

His only win came in a 1400m handicap on the all-weather last year, and he has struggled when confronted with smarter company. His great Irish stable is yet to win this French Classic and surely Taj Mahal won't be the one to change that here.

5

Recoletos

This classy colt admittedly had a 2017 race -fitness edge over Waldgeist in a G2 at Saint-Cloud last month, but he still accelerated for a decisive victory. His trainer considers that the faster anticipated ground at Chantilly on Sunday is not a negative.

6

Bay Of Poets

Sired by the 2010 winner of this French Classic his only victory so far has been in a maiden but he has finished third and second to two of the Epsom Derby favourites - Cracksman and Cliffs of Moher  respectively - at Epsom and Chester. Supplemented for this.

7

D'bai

Won two of his five two-year-old starts but was beaten a long way by winner Waldgeist when elevated to G1 company at Saint-Cloud last October. Returning to Saint-Cloud last month he led in a Listed race but was easily shaken off at the end.

8

Soleil Marin

Supplemented into this, he has won his last five starts and though he rarely looks impressive he gets the job done. Last time he proved himself over this course and distance, rallying boldly after being headed by a better fancied stablemate.

9

War Decree

An impressive two-year-old who decisively landed a G2 at Goodwood. However he didn't appear to have developed much over the winter and, despite starting favourite for a G3 at Newmarket in April, he never looked happy and was struggling late on.

10

Be My Sheriff

German trained but three of his four starts have been in France including a 5L winning romp over 2000m at Chantilly last month. The form of that win is probably weak and he hadn't make much impact in a G3 previously. Hard to fancy.

11

Rivet

A G1 winner at Doncaster last October and his form is the strongest of the Anglo/Irish challenge especially after his clear third to Brametot in a really strong French 2000 Guineas at Deauville. He'll need to last this longer trip and won't want fast ground.

12

Plumatic

Beautifully bred and highly regarded. He skipped clear of his rivals on his career debut over a similar distance to this at Saint-Cloud in March. Although a beaten favourite in a G3 at Chantilly last month he gained some track experience and expected faster ground here is a big plus.
