Share the Power!

Many thousands of bettors now use SpeedPOWER form data each race day and we believe many of you have developed efficient and profitable ways of using the different kinds of information provided, such as Speed Figures, Speed Maps, SpeedPICK etc.

But skills can always be improved further, and this forum is aimed at putting you in touch with each other so you can compare notes on what works and what does not, so that hopefully all SpeedPOWER users can achieve even more winning results.

You are invited to share your successes and your racing opinions with us, and we welcome comments and suggestions on how SpeedPOWER can be improved.

Speed Power is an excellent form guide. For better and ready reference, it will be fantastic if we could include: 1. the running race number and 2. the aggregated time after the sectional times. Thank you!

Speed Figures

I have been calculating my own speed figures for racing in Australia for several years, with limited success. I find the SpeedPOWER service fantastic as it takes all the hard work out and the detail is unbeatable. The most important tips that I can give for using speed ratings are to always stick to the top rated horses, always forgive a good horse one bad run, and look hard for patterns in speed figures that might indicate whether a horse is cycling in or out of form - Often a saved bet is just as good as a winner!

Share: I have really improved my handicapping by using the speed maps as a starting point to my handicapping.I pick what I beleive is the true speed then check it against the speed maps and when my selections are the same my end result to a race has improved dramatically especially on certain courses that are consistently speed favouring. Its taken me a few years of following hong kong to know which courses are very often speed favouring no matter the distance and Ive stepped out on a few bets on horses paying at least 10 to 1 or higher and gotten some sweet returns.I wish there was record of a horses performance on wet tracks as they do in North America as I really have noticed when I watch replays the comentators talking about horses that love off tracks but dont find any imformation in the race form we get for hong kong or in speed power.Ive really enjoyed speed power and hope it continues Thanks for the help in getting winners

Speed Figures

Is there any chance the Speed Power form guide could be expanded to give more than eight past performances? One of the beautiful things about a horse's figures as they fluctuate from race to race under changing conditions and distances is that they give us a picture of its strengths and weaknesses and its likes and dislikes. They also can chart when it goes in and out of form. But eight runs often is not enough to get the full picture. Why not 12 or even 20 runs? After all, its a website and cyber space is unlimited.

Speed figures and other such ratings by themselves do not guarantee winners, especially in Hong Kong racing. TRACK BIAS RULES HERE! The best horse in the race will not win unless it also races on the right part of the track. So here's a free winning tip for everybody: study the track bias information in the Comments section of the past performances ¡V the part that says things like "Strong Rail Bias", "Pace Bias" or "Off-rail Bias" etc. If you look at the form guide for a few race days, you can quickly get 20 or 30 examples of what the usual track bias is for each course (A, B, C etc) at Sha Tin and the Valley. The bias can vary from day to day, so you still need to keep your eyes open during the first couple of races to make sure the bias is "normal". You then look for the best rated horse that figures to be in the right position in the race.

SpeedPICK

I have a simple formula for winning that works well. I use the Speed Pick ratings, but you have to change them around a bit. First I look for races where there is at least six points between the top horse and the sixth horse. Eliminate all other horses. From the top six, also eliminate any horse with a fitness rating of one thumb up and especially one thumb down. Lastly check the speed map and take two points off any horse that the map says will be wide. If the top horse in the final ratings is two points or more better than the next best, bet it to win and use it as a banker in quinellas and quinella-place bets. Otherwise just box bet the top horses in Q and QPs. I also get some good wins by taking all the remaining horses from the top six (usually only two-to-four horses in each race) and betting them in race to race doubles.

General

This forum is a great idea. I did not know much about racing when I first found the Speed Power form guide early this year and having the speed figure ratings for all the horses quickly helps me identify the three or four with the best chances of winning in most races. I still have a huge amount to learn but will be happy to swap opinions with others. My problem at the moment is working out the best way to bet after I have identified the top chances in a race. I have heard that there are proven betting formulas based on the horse's estimated chance of winning coupled with its odds. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of one?
