Ceremony on "The Ocean Park Eco Tour" for The Hong Kong Jockey Club Green Child Campaign
A ceremony was held on 5 June 2001 at Ocean Park to celebrate the meaningful "Ocean Park Eco Tour" for The Hong Kong Jockey Club Green Child Campaign.
Officiating guests at the ceremony were Mr. William Yiu, Executive Director, Charities and Corporate Secretariat of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Mr. Matthias Li, Finance and Administration Director of Ocean Park.
The ceremony being held on the World Environment Day renders the occasion even more appropriate. "We hope we can remind everyone in the World to join us in protecting our environment, just like you all have done in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Green Child Campaign in using fewer plastic bags," said Mr. William Yiu at the ceremony.
Ocean Park has always taken initiatives in promoting environmental education and has since 1995 launched the "Sort and Recycle" programme. The Green Child Campaign provides a good opportunity for The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Ocean Park to work hand in hand in promoting and raising the public awareness on environmental protection.
The "Ocean Park Eco Tour" is one of the green extra-curricular activities in the second phase of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Green Child Campaign and is held from 2 to 11 June 2001.
"Through the interactive educational activities and enriched educational materials that we provide, thousands of students can learn about the wonders of nature from a new angle. We hope that the tours will enhance their appreciation of the environment and motivate them to promote the environmental conservation message to the general public," said Mr. Matthias Li at the ceremony.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Ocean Park have shared a long and harmonious working relationship. The "Ocean Park Eco Tour" for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Green Child Campaign is the result of consistent efforts on both sides in preserving a healthy environment for everyone in Hong Kong.
