Jockey Corey Nakatani has been corresponding with the Club in the past two days in respect of the penalty of suspension from riding in races imposed on him for a charge of careless riding when riding FORBIDDEN APPLE in The Hong Kong Mile on 16 December 2001.

In view of the unique circumstances, the Stewards have allowed Jockey Nakatani to lodge notice of his intention to appeal against the severity of this penalty outside the time as specified in Rule 133(1). The Stewards have suspended the operation of this penalty in accordance with Rule 23(5) pending hearing of the Appeal.
