In order to better serve our customers through the provision of accurate and pertinent information, the Handicapping Department will issue Barrier Draws and Favourites statistics for every race meeting on the day of Declarations, starting 1 January 2002.

Explanatory Notes:

1. Barrier draws: for every surface/course/distance combination, a table containing the total number of races and winning & placing percentages (among other details) will be produced. In addition, a bar chart will also be drawn to represent the figures in graphical format. Each bar, representing a barrier number, will have two colour sections. The royal blue colour section represents the winning percentage and the full length of the bar represents the placing percentage.

2. Only races run on the same course (rail position) and distances in the last 3 racing seasons (beginning 1/9/1999) will be included in the calculation.

3. Favourites: the favourites percentages contained in the inset of the bar chart represent the proportion of favourites winning and placing respectively over the same surface/course/distance combination in the last 3 seasons.
