Chief Ivor - 1 January 2002 race meeting

31 December 2001

Last Thursday 27 December 2001 the Club Veterinary Surgeon, Dr W H Chan, advised that he had performed a bronchoscopy on CHIEF IVOR which had been entered for the meeting on 1 January 2002.

Dr Chan said the scoping reviewed a significant amount of blood in the windpipe of the horse and there was also blood on top of the larynx. He said he was concerned that the amount of blood in the windpipe could affect the horse's performance for the race on 1 January 2002. Accordingly Trainer J Moore was directed by the Stewards that CHIEF IVOR not be declared to run on 1 January 2002 race meeting.

Before CHIEF IVOR can race again, the horse will be required to pass an official veterinary examination which must include an endoscopic test.
