Singapore team strengthened for SAIC meeting 30 April 2002 Tapildo (International Rating 109), trained by Laurie Laxon, has received a late invite from the Singapore Turf Club to contest the S$3 million (HK12.6 million) Singapore Airlines International Cup (Gr.1-2000m) at Kranji on May 11. Tapildo joins stablemates Hoeberg (115) and Saddle Up (114) giving the former Melbourne Cup winning trainer three runners in the final field of the International Group 1 event. In other news, three of the nine international horses have safely arrived in Singapore. Western Pride (115), from the United States, the Godolphin runner Grandera (119) and Australian hope Universal Prince (116) all arrived over the weekend and have already began trackwork in preparation for the 2000m event. Champion Singapore trainer Malcolm Thwaites also received some good news yesterday morning when his sprinter, Trillion Win (112), was promoted to the starting list of the S$1 million (HK$4.2 million) Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Sprint (Gr.3-1200m). Trillion Win received a position in the field of 14 when trainer David Hayes withdrew All Thrills Too to target him at big end of season prizes in Hong Kong. The Hayes stable will still be represented in the Sprint with Charming City (117). Cup contenders from Hong Kong, Indigenous (117) and Olympic Express (111), along with Krisflyer Sprint compatriots Charming City and Firebolt (114) will depart for Singapore on Wednesday, May 1, at 6.50pm. Caller One (125), the star American sprinter, arrived safely with stablemate Western Pride (115) on Friday evening. Both horses are reported to be in top condition.
