Weather over the Kranji Racecourse got better
this morning; still, there is the occasion shower in the morning. The
odd showers did not deter the runners in the two international races
from going through their final work.
The 2002 Hong Kong Derby victor Olympic Express
showed up at 5:30 sharp this morning with his regular partner Weichong
Marwing on board. His final preparation included a slow canter and a
half-speed breeze over the turf track. Olympic Express worked well in
his final gallop and pleased his connection.

The other two Ivan Allan charges Indigenous
and Firebolt warmed up together over the dirt course before
heading off separately for a piece of fast work over the turf.
Firebolt was given a quick
sprint coming out of the stall in the back straight and looked extremely
sharp. And the former Hong Kong Champion Indigenous had a nice solitary
half-mile work in the bridle.

The much in form and versatile Charming City appears at
5:50 this morning and worked nicely over 800m on the all-weather track.
The 2001 Hong Kong International Cup fourth
Universal Prince was seen doing a slow work over the
dirt course and also pleased his owner Mr. Hogan immensely.
The Godolphin pair Grandera
and Atlantis Prince cantered over the turf course together.

The lone German representative Paolini
was much focus this morning with the aid of a pair of blinkers. His
trainer Andreas Wohler is hoping for a fast run race in the feature
event since Paolini was rather unlucky to draw the extreme outside barrier
draw 14.
Hawkeye, the only UK runner in this year's
international had a fast canter over the dirt course.
The two American runners Western Pride
and Caller One worked as a group once again since their
arrival.
The local team of Hoeberg,
Saddle Up and Blizz Bless all worked smartly
over their home turf and looked ready to give a good showing this weekend.
