The
Happy Valley Million Challenge continues on Wednesday, October 22,
and includes the featured Wayfoong Centenary Bowl, which is Race 7 on
the programme.
It is one of three Challenge races, and seven horses
that have already won points in the series are among the declared starters.
Early points winners proved the horses to follow at
the last Happy Valley meeting on October 8, when there were also three
Challenge races. Twelve of the runners that competed had already won points
and produced two winners, a second, two thirds, a fourth and two fifths
on the night.
The Wayfoong Centenary Bowl is a Class 3 event over
1800m carrying HK$700,000 prize money. Mr Kenneth S Y Ng, Head of Legal
and Compliance of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited,
will present the trophy and a miniature to the winning owner.
The Wayfoong Centenary Bowl was first run in 1965 to
mark the centenary of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and
has since been competed for annually. It underlines the long and very
close association the Bank has had with horse racing in Hong Kong.
