$45 million first prize to celebrate Mark Six 30th Anniversary

24 July 2005

To combat illegal lotteries like 'Che Fa', which was in its heyday in 1970s, the Government founded the Hong Kong Lotteries Board in 1975 and appointed The Hong Kong Jockey Club to operate the Mark Six Lottery on its behalf.

Since then, Mark Six has become part of life for most Hong Kong people, bringing them never-ending hopes and chances of winning. Over the past 30 years, the Lotteries Fund generated from Mark Six Lottery has contributed to major community projects and benefiting society at large.

To mark the 30th anniversary of Mark Six, a 30th Anniversary Snowball draw will be held on Tuesday, 26 July. The draw will carry a snowball of $30 million, and it is estimated the winner of a single first prize unit could bag up to $45 million.

The draw will be held at 9:45 pm on Tuesday and broadcast live on ATV's Home Channel.

Mr Mark Six back to drawing room

To mark the special occasion, HKJC Lotteries Limited is inviting Mr Kenny Ng to host the 30th Anniversary Snowball draw this Tuesday. Known as "Mr Mark Six", Kenny hosted the Mark Six draw live TV coverage for 17 years following the first draw in 1975.

Though he has left the job for a long time, "Mr Mark Six" found that memories flashed back to his mind in no time when he revisited the Mark Six draw room to attend a test draw a few days ago. When the numbers were drawn out in the test, he read out the numbers as loudly and clearly as ever.

Numbers 1 and 18 were drawn in the test. "Mr Mark Six" picked out the two numbers meaning 'Fortune' to Hong Kong people, and wished all Mark Six customers good luck in Tuesday's 30th Anniversary Snowball draw.

For those who want to see "Mr Mark Six" hosting the snowball draw and reading out the drawn numbers, the draw takes place at 9:45 pm on Tuesday is one thing you should not miss.
