Aged 33, the former jumps jockey and keen fisherman scored the biggest win of his career, this year, aboard Jimmy Choux in the Rosehill Guineas in Sydney. He's battled with his weight throughout his career but has made a great fist of riding on the flat in recent seasons. Riddell won three Grand National Steeplechases and two Grand National Hurdles In New Zealand before switching back to the flat. He also won the 2002 Crisp Steeplechase in Melbourne aboard Chibouli. He rode 56 winners on the flat in NZ last season and has partnered Jimmy Choux in 11 of his 12 wins including five Group 1's.
