Born in Durban, South Africa but based in Ireland, 22-year-old Keagan Latham had never sat on a horse or even watched a race on TV before joining the Racing Academy in his hometown. After a two-year apprenticeship with Mike de Kock, a spell riding for Herman Brown and a winter in Dubai, the rider moved to Ger Lyons' stable in County Meath where, since arriving in 2008, he has forged a reputation as a young jockey to watch. He enjoyed the biggest success of his career in May when Sole Power sprinted to glory in the G2 Temple Stakes at Haydock Park. |
