Born 6 December 1959, Champion Trainer in New Zealand on 11 occasions - was in partnership with his father Dave for 17 years. He won the Japan Cup in 1989 with Horlicks and added scores of other majors on both sides of the Tasman Sea, including the Cox Plate with Surfers Paradise in 1991. Arrived in Hong Kong to train in 2004 with 2007 Mercedes-Benz HK Derby victor Vital King the most memorable. His current standard bearer is Fellowship, winner of the HKG1 Stewards’ Cup in 2010 and beaten only a short head by Happy Zero in the HKG1 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup. Trained the winners of 28 races in 2009/10 for a Hong Kong career total of 187.
