Background:
Jack Wong joined the HKJC Apprentice Jockeys' School after seeing an advertisement in the summer of 2009. He was indentured as an apprentice jockey on 28 July, 2012, ahead of his overseas training in New Zealand with Matamata-based trainer John Sargent. In May 2013 he transferred to trainer Mike McCann at Riccarton on the South Island and notched 16 wins. In March 2014 he moved back to the North Island under the care of Matamata trainer and former champion jockey Lance O'Sullivan. Wong took his career record to 36 wins from 443 race rides before returning to Hong Kong. He was allocated to trainer Me Tsui on 23 February, 2015, and rode his first Hong Kong winner, Dane Patrol, on 21 March that year. He reached the graduation benchmark after claiming his 70th win in Hong Kong with Exponents on 10 June, 2018. Wong is a Grade 7 pianist.
