Race:1 (566) CASTLE PEAK BAY PLATE (Sec1) Griffin Race 1000 m

QUADRUPLE DOUBLE was crowded for room on jumping between STYLING CITY and STRATHALLAN which initially shifted out and then was taken out further by SPEED VISION. After being corrected, SPEED VISION became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by PACIFIC MASTER which shifted out. After this, SPEED VISION lay out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of STRATHALLAN near the 900 Metres. SPEED VISION then continued to lay out and raced greenly.
The performance of SAVVY SEVEN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SAVVY SEVEN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SAVVY SEVEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STYLING CITY and QUADRUPLE DOUBLE were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (567) KAT O HOI HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1200 m

K Teetan (CATCHMEIFYOUCAN) was fined the sum of $3,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring for this race by the required time. It was noted that this was the third occasion this season that Jockey Teetan had been penalized for breaching the requirement.
CARRY TO WIN began only fairly.
As the start was effected, SKY TREASURE, which was fractious in the barriers, turned its head to the left and consequently began only fairly.
THE GREATEST began awkwardly.
HAPPY SOUND shifted out at the start and bumped TRENDIFUL.
GOBI STORM and RAINBOW GOLD bumped on jumping. RAINBOW GOLD then became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of CATCHMEIFYOUCAN, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Near the 1100 Metres, ACTUARIAT was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC FABIO. Then near the 1000 Metres, ACTUARIAT was checked away from the heels of FANTASTIC FABIO, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LE PEGASE.
Approaching the 300 Metres, CARRY TO WIN (J Moreira) became badly unbalanced after being crowded for room inside THE GREATEST which, when giving ground abruptly, shifted in marginally. A veterinary inspection of THE GREATEST immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. After the race, J Moreira stated that CARRY TO WIN did not seem to appreciate racing amongst runners on today’s racing surface and after being crowded for room near the 300 Metre, the horse appeared to lose confidence and did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of CARRY TO WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the 100 Metres, RAINBOW GOLD lay out under pressure.
Throughout the race, CATCHMEIFYOUCAN travelled wide and without cover.
K Teetan was warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder.
After the race, T Berry stated that after SKY TREASURE did not begin well, it did not travel comfortably when required to race in behind horses and then did not finish off the race in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of SKY TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
When questioned, B Prebble stated that it was believed FIVE STARS AGENT would not have sufficient speed over the 1200 Metres to obtain a forward position and therefore from the outside barrier he was asked to obtain a position with cover if possible, however, it was felt that this would be in midfield or worse and in a three wide position. He said although FIVE STARS AGENT began well, he commenced to shift it across to obtain a trailing position behind RAINBOW GOLD and GOBI STORM in the early stages. He said passing the 800 Metres he was racing very wide outside GOBI STORM which at this time was racing wide on the outside of CARRY TO WIN and this resulted in FIVE STARS AGENT being left very wide making the first turn near the 700 Metres. He added rather than remain unnecessarily wide, he shifted FIVE STARS AGENT in after the 700 Metres to save ground closer to the inside before shifting it to the outside of runners at the entrance to the Straight. He said however that FIVE STARS AGENT did not finish off the race and, in his opinion, did not seem to appreciate today’s racing surface. A veterinary inspection of FIVE STARS AGENT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FANTASTIC FABIO had sustained an abrasion above the back of the right hock.
SKY TREASURE, RAINBOW GOLD and FANTASTIC FABIO were sent for sampling.
<16/4/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>CARRY TO WIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. CARRY TO WIN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer R Gibson this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CARRY TO WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:3 (568) MIRS BAY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1600 m

FIAMA began only fairly.
RADIANT BUNNY began only fairly and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of UNICRON JEWELLERY which was taken out by FLASH FAMOUS which in turn was taken out by POSITIVELY HIGH.
From the outside barrier, WHAMPOA STAR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, HANG’S DECISION was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of SMILING CHARM.
Approaching the 700 Metres, RADIANT BUNNY and WHAMPOA STAR raced tight.
Passing the 500 Metres, RADIANT BUNNY was awkwardly placed behind POSITIVELY HIGH when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
FIAMA and UNICRON JEWELLERY were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (569) PORT SHELTER HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

Whilst in the saddling stalls, GALLANT RETURN had its left front plate refitted. GALLANT RETURN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
FLYING GODSPELL was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of GALLANT RETURN which shifted out.
WONDERFUL TIGER, which began awkwardly, and LUCKY SHINY DAY were crowded for room on jumping between GOLDEN EFFORT and STRIKING MR C which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
From a wide barrier, GOLDIE FLANKER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
STRIKING MR C got its head on the side and lay out in the middle stages and rounding the Home Turn.
Passing the 250 Metres, WONDERFUL TIGER was shifted out away from the heels of FLYING GODSPELL which shifted out under pressure.
Apprentice H N Wong (WONDERFUL TIGER) dropped his whip near the 150 Metres.
In the Straight, GOLDIE FLANKER shifted out under pressure.
When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon stated that near the 600 Metres he shifted GALLANT RETURN out to race behind GOLDEN EFFORT with a view to shifting out further to that horse’s outside rounding the Home Turn. He said at this time STRIKING MR C was racing to the outside of GALLANT RETURN and although that horse was laying out, he did not believe that there was sufficient room for him to improve between GOLDEN EFFORT and STRIKING MR C near the 500 Metres. He said as STRIKING MR C had an advantage over GALLANT RETURN, he was reluctant to improve into tight running between that horse and GOLDEN EFFORT as he was concerned that STRIKING MR C would shift in which would result in GALLANT RETURN being checked. He said for this reason he remained racing behind GOLDEN EFFORT and shifted to the inside of that horse into clear running at the entrance to the Straight. He added after this GALLANT RETURN did not have the same turn of foot as GOLDEN EFFORT, however, still finished off the race fairly.
After the race, A Sanna stated that SUNSHINE UNIVERSE did not feel comfortable in its action. A veterinary inspection of SUNSHINE UNIVERSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. Before being allowed to race again, SUNSHINE UNIVERSE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after the race, D Whyte stated that the middle stages of the race were run at a tempo which did not suit NICE FANDANGO and resulted in the horse being off the bridle earlier than he had hoped. He said because of this NICE FANDANGO was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of NICE FANDANGO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GALLANT RETURN, GOLDEN EFFORT and GOLDIE FLANKER were sent for sampling.
<16/4/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>SUNSHINE UNIVERSE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. SUNSHINE UNIVERSE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C W Chang this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, SUNSHINE UNIVERSE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

Race:5 (570) RAMBLER CHANNEL HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

NOBLE DE LOVE was withdrawn on 14.4.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (restricted action with intermittent right fore lameness) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FLYING NOBLE (J Moreira). Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE DE LOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
CITY LEGEND was checked on jumping when crowded for room between HONEST WAY and SUNNY POWER which, after initially shifting out of its own accord despite the efforts of its rider, was then taken out by PHOTON WILLIE which in turn was taken out by FLYING NOBLE. In this incident, HONEST WAY became unbalanced after being heavily bumped on the hindquarters by CITY LEGEND.
GREAT TREASURE began only fairly.
A BEAUTIFUL shifted out at the start and bumped HARD BALL GET.
From a wide barrier, FORTUNE WAY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A BEAUTIFUL travelled keenly approaching and passing the 1100 Metres.
After the 900 Metres, COMPASSION STAR was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
Near the 700 Metres, after being crossed by E MASTER, A BEAUTIFUL got its head up when awkwardly placed behind that horse. A BEAUTIFUL continued to travel keenly and raced close to the heels of E MASTER for some distance.
Approaching and passing the 600 Metres, NICE KICK was bumped on a number of occasions when taken wider by HONEST WAY (T Berry) which shifted to the outside of A BEAUTIFUL and COMPASSION STAR to obtain clear running. T Berry was severely reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he must not place unnecessary pressure on other runners to obtain clear running.
Near the 450 Metres, CITY LEGEND improved into tight running between A BEAUTIFUL and SUNNY POWER.
FLYING NOBLE was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then had some difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 150 Metres.
Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, CITY LEGEND got its head on the side and lay in when racing tight inside SUNNY POWER.
FORTUNE WAY was held up for clear running passing the 300 Metres.
SUPER EURO STAR lost its right front plate approaching the 150 Metres.
Approaching the 100 Metres, SUPER EURO STAR was steadied when unable to improve between PHOTON WILLIE and E MASTER.
When questioned, Mr C W Chang, trainer of SUPER EURO STAR, said that as the horse was stepping up in distance to 1400 Metres today, he felt that it would not be able to finish off the race if ridden to obtain a forward position from its wide barrier. He said he therefore asked A Sanna, the rider of SUPER EURO STAR, to shift it across behind runners in the early stages and ride the horse more patiently to ensure that it was able to see out the 1400 Metres of today’s race.
When questioned, A Sanna stated that after the 700 Metres he gave his mount a slap down the shoulder in the left hand as SUPER EURO STAR was becoming detached from the main body of the field. He said SUPER EURO STAR was laying in and was not travelling well and he had to ride the horse hard after the 600 Metres in an endeavour to improve its position. He said it was not until rounding the Home Turn that SUPER EURO STAR commenced to travel better and then finished off its race well in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of A BEAUTIFUL and COMPASSION STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FLYING NOBLE, GREAT TREASURE and HARD BALL GET were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (571) THE CUHK ALUMNI CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 4 1600 m

AMBITIOUS PINS was withdrawn on 14.4.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, AMBITIOUS PINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After being fractious in the barriers, STRATHSPEY reared, resulting in T Berry being dislodged without incident. Before being allowed to race again, STRATHSPEY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
STRATHSPEY was crowded for room on jumping between PEARL CHAMPION and SEA PEARL which shifted out. A short distance after the start, STRATHSPEY was checked when crowded for room between PEARL CHAMPION and SEA PEARL which again shifted out after being bumped by RED ELYSEES. In this incident, SEA PEARL also became badly unbalanced.
From wide barriers, SMART CHARADE, CLEMENT LEGEND and DESMIOS were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After initially being steadied to obtain a position from a wide barrier, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT was left racing wide and without cover after the 1400 Metres and was then allowed to improve into a more forward position after the 1200 Metres, however, continued to race wide and without cover.
Approaching the 1400 Metres, SEA PEARL, which was travelling keenly, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of PEARL CHAMPION which shifted in.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, SEA PEARL, which continued to travel keenly, was awkwardly placed behind PEARL CHAMPION which at this time was steadied due to SHALLUCK shifting out from behind MARVEL JOY.
PEARL CHAMPION lost its right hind plate near the 1100 Metres.
Near the 350 Metres, PEARL CHAMPION raced tight outside NAMJONG PLUS which, after improving to the outside of RED ELYSEES, raced tight outside that horse which itself shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running.
Also near the 350 Metres, SEA PEARL was checked when racing tight between STRATHSPEY which shifted out marginally when held up for clear running behind PEARL CHAMPION and THE FULL BLOOM which was racing in restricted room inside the heels of HINYUEN SWIFTNESS. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider error associated with this incident, no further action was taken.
Near the 250 Metres, PEARL CHAMPION and NAMJONG PLUS raced tight between HINYUEN SWIFTNESS and RED ELYSEES.
RED ELYSEES had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200 Metres and consequently was not able to be properly tested.
Passing the 200 Metres, NAMJONG PLUS got its head on the side and shifted out marginally, resulting in PEARL CHAMPION racing in restricted room inside HINYUEN SWIFTNESS.
A Sanna (SMART CHARADE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 100 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavour to prevent that horse from shifting in when not clear of THE FULL BLOOM, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. A Sanna was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 2 May 2018 and to expire on Monday, 7 May 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, A Sanna was fined $12,500.
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as T Berry, the rider of STRATHSPEY, which finished second, lodged a protest/objection against NAMJONG PLUS (K Teetan) being declared the winner alleging interference in the early part of the Straight. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and after viewing the videos, the Stewards found that at the entrance to the Straight STRATHSPEY was shifted out in an endeavour to improve to the outside of NAMJONG PLUS which then also shifted out to improve. STRATHSPEY was consequently disappointed for running and then held up and awkwardly placed behind PEARL CHAMPION when unable to improve between PEARL CHAMPION and NAMJONG PLUS approaching and passing the 400 Metres. STRATHSPEY was subsequently shifted to the inside of NAMJONG PLUS passing the 350 Metres to obtain clear running. As the Stewards were satisfied that STRATHSPEY had not fully established running to the outside of NAMJONG PLUS as that horse shifted to the outside of RED ELYSEES, the protest/objection was overruled and accordingly weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
When questioned, Apprentice C Wong (MARVEL JOY) stated that at the 700 Metres he had a look to his inside to ensure that he had not established a margin over the remainder of the field. He said although he was aware that SHALLUCK was racing to his outside, he looked to his inside to make sure that he was not setting too fast a tempo on MARVEL JOY.
A veterinary inspection of THE FULL BLOOM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NAMJONG PLUS and STRATHSPEY were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (572) SHA TIN HOI HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1000 m

DRAGON PIONEER shifted out at the start and bumped ROMAN ODYSSEY.
VERY LUCKY, which began only fairly, then finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of and VERY LUCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of VERY LUCKY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, VERY LUCKY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MONEY BOY and SAUL’S SPECIAL bumped at the start.
After travelling a short distance, VERY LUCKY shifted out and bumped MOST BEAUTIFUL which became unbalanced.

ROMAN ODYSSEY was unable to obtain clear running from near the 150 Metres until passing the 100 Metres.
When returning to the unsaddling area, T Berry was dislodged from ALCARI without incident.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MR LUMIERES, A Sanna stated that based on the manner in which MR LUMIERES trialed in the lead up to today’s race, he expected it to be a strong chance in the race. He said after being able to obtain a forward position without having to make too much use of MR LUMIERES in the early stages, MR LUMIERES then travelled very well in the early and middle stages. He said at the 350 Metres he commenced to ride MR LUMIERES along in order to establish a break over the remainder of the field, however, despite being ridden along, MR LUMIERES did not quicken as he expected it would and he was not able to improve his position on runners racing to its inside. He added MR LUMIERES then came under immediate pressure and despite being fully tested was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the final 100 Metres. He said he was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse given that it was comfortable in its action at all stages of the race and had worked well leading into the race. A veterinary inspection of MR LUMIERES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MR LUMIERES, a favourite for today’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MR LUMIERES will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, C Y Ho stated that, despite being hard ridden in the early and middle stages, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL was reluctant to improve its position and became detached from the field. He said he continued to ride the horse throughout the race and it was not until after the 400 Metres that TRIUMPHANT JEWEL commenced to close off the race.
Also after the race, J Moreira stated that HAIR TRIGGER’s action did not feel comfortable and the horse made an abnormal breathing noise after the race. A veterinary inspection of HAIR TRIGGER immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor wound to the left hind fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, HAIR TRIGGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MR LUMIERES, WAYFOONG VINNIE and MONEY BOY were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (573) THE KOWLOON CRICKET CLUB CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 2 2200 m

After entering the track, SAVVY SIX (A Sanna) was reluctant to proceed to the Start. The Stewards will monitor SAVVY SIX’s pre-race behaviour at its future starts before deciding whether any further action needs to be taken. A Sanna was reminded of his obligation in respect of the use of the whip on a horse prior to the race.
CONSORT was crowded for room on jumping between GRAND CHANCELLOR and SAVVY SIX which shifted out. In this incident, GRAND CHANCELLOR became unbalanced when bumped by CONSORT.
DOYENI began only fairly.
From the outside barriers, EXULTANT and HAPPILABABY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GRAND CHANCELLOR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RUTHVEN.
Approaching the 600 Metres, GRAND CHANCELLOR was shifted out in an endeavour to improve into tight running between RUTHVEN and CONSORT which was improving and racing tight to the outside of GRAND CHANCELLOR. In this incident, CONSORT became unbalanced after making contact with GRAND CHANCELLOR. Then passing the 600 Metres, GRAND CHANCELLOR, after being disappointed for running between RUTHVEN and CONSORT, raced close to the heels of RUTHVEN and was awkwardly placed behind that horse rounding the Home Turn. GRAND CHANCELLOR remained held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Approaching the 250 Metres, EXULTANT was inconvenienced by CONSORT which shifted out under pressure.
When questioned, Apprentice C Wong stated that he was asked to ride PACKING DRAGON positively in the lead. He said after riding his mount along out of the barriers, he was left racing in a three wide position outside RUTHVEN approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said he continued to allow PACKING DRAGON to improve its position and slapped the horse down the shoulder with the whip on a number of occasions. He said however that PACKING DRAGON took some time to improve its position forward of RUTHVEN and it was not until after the 1100 Metres that he was able to shift in to race in advance of RUTHVEN. Apprentice Wong was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made a more positive attempt to ride to his instructions and have PACKING DRAGON race outside the leader SERGEANT TITANIUM at an earlier stage. He was further advised that by not riding PACKING DRAGON assertively enough after passing the winning post on the first occasion, this resulted in PACKING DRAGON racing unnecessarily wide and that he must, where circumstances permit, make all reasonable attempts to ride to his instructions.
When questioned, T Berry stated that RUTHVEN would not relax in the early and middle stages with PACKING DRAGON racing to its outside. He said despite this, RUTHVEN was still disappointing given that the horse was under pressure a long way from the finish and then gave ground noticeably in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of RUTHVEN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, RUTHVEN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GRAND CHANCELLOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
PRAWN BABA and EXULTANT were sent for sampling.
<16/4/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>RUTHVEN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in its trachea. RUTHVEN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right hind leg. As previously advised, RUTHVEN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

Race:9 (574) TOLO HARBOUR HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

FRIENDS OF NANJING began only fairly.
From wide barriers, INVINCIBLE FRESH, GOD OF DRAGON and GO PUBLIC were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
At the entrance to the Straight, INVINCIBLE FRESH was checked when disappointed for running between CAPTAIN BOSS and ENCOURAGING (D Whyte) which shifted out. D Whyte was advised that whilst the Stewards were satisfied that INVINCIBLE FRESH had not established running between the two horses, nonetheless he must exercise care when shifting ground to prevent causing interference.
Near the 300 Metres, SONIC FIGHTER was shifted in away from the heels of COMFORT LIFE. Then passing the 200 Metres, SONIC FIGHTER was shifted to the inside of CEREFINO in an attempt to obtain clear running. When SONIC FIGHTER shifted in, HARD PROMISE was awkwardly placed between SONIC FIGHTER and GO PUBLIC which improved quickly to the inside of HARD PROMISE. After this, SONIC FIGHTER was held up for clear running inside CEREFINO until passing the 100 Metres.
Near the 50 Metres, INVINCIBLE FRESH, which was finishing off the race strongly, was shifted out abruptly away from the heels of CEREFINO when that horse shifted out marginally when giving ground.
ENCOURAGING lay in under pressure in the Straight and proved difficult to ride.
Throughout the race, RACING LUCK travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, D Whyte stated that it was felt that ENCOURAGING had performed disappointingly at its most recent start when ridden in a forward position. He said he was therefore asked to ride ENCOURAGING more conservatively today. He said when ridden in this manner ENCOURAGING finished off the race well and both he and Trainer M J Freedman were satisfied that the horse performs best when ridden more quietly.
A veterinary inspection of HARD PROMISE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
SHAMPORT, GO PUBLIC and COMFORT LIFE were sent for sampling.

Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, PABLOSKY travelled wide and without cover.
CALCULATION lost its left front plate after the race.
A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA WHIP, PERPETUAL TREASURE and RADIANT STEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of FANTASTIC EIGHT immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FANTASTIC EIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
PICK NUMBER ONE and CALCULATION were sent for sampling.

Race:11 (576) YAN CHAU TONG HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

GREAT HONOUR began awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Also from the outside barrier, EAGLE was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
LASTING FRIENDSHIP raced in restricted room shortly after the start between VICTORY MACHINE and HEZTHEWONFORUS which shifted out. HEZTHEWONFORUS then became unbalanced after making contact with LASTING FRIENDSHIP.
Near the 1050 Metres, RIGHT CALL was steadied to avoid the heels of VICTORY MACHINE (Apprentice M F Poon) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Poon was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance when shifting ground. When RIGHT CALL was steadied, ALL BEST FRIENDS was inconvenienced when racing close to the heels of SO FAST.
Passing the 1000 Metres, HEZTHEWONFORUS got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover behind RIGHT CALL.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, VICTORY MACHINE and ORIONIDS made contact due to both horses shifting ground. A short distance later, VICTORY MACHINE was hampered when racing tight between WINNING SUPREME and ORIONIDS which became unbalanced and lay in before being corrected by its rider.
After the 800 Metres, HEZTHEWONFORUS got its head up when awkwardly placed behind RIGHT CALL.
Passing the 500 Metres, ALL BEST FRIENDS raced in restricted room inside HEZTHEWONFORUS which improved into tight running inside RIGHT CALL.
Approaching the 200 Metres, EAGLE (U Rispoli), which was closing off the race strongly, was shifted in abruptly away from the heels of ORIONIDS and in doing so shifted in towards the heels of SO FAST. EAGLE was then severely checked passing the 200 Metres when disappointed for running between ORIONIDS and SO FAST which got its head on the side and shifted out away from VICTORY MACHINE. U Rispoli stated that leaving the 300 Metres he considered improving to the outside of ORIONIDS and inside SUPER WISE, however, as that run was commencing to become tight, he elected to shift to the inside of ORIONIDS as he felt that this option would present him with the best chance to obtain uninterrupted running. He said however that due to EAGLE having to be shifted in abruptly away from the heels of ORIONIDS and SO FAST shifting out, this resulted in EAGLE being badly checked when disappointed for running.
GREAT HONOUR was not able to obtain clear running over the final 200 Metres and consequently was not able to be tested.
Passing the 100 Metres, RIGHT CALL was steadied when awkwardly placed behind VICTORY MACHINE which was giving ground.
Throughout the race, ORIONIDS travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of ORIONIDS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
