After the 600 Metres, JUST NOT LISTENING lay out and then made the Home Turn awkwardly.
Near the 500 Metres, MIGHTY MAVERICK got its head up when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LA BOMBA.
In the early part of the Straight, MONEY MARSHAL got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
Also in the early part of the Straight, SEVENTY SEVENTY was unable to obtain clear running and after being disappointed for a run between SUNSHINE HOLIDAY and GOLDEN SLEEP passing the 350 Metres was then shifted in a number of horses in an attempt to obtain clear running.
Near the 250 Metres, FLYING LOVER was brushed and taken in by SEVENTY SEVENTY which shifted in.
Passing the 200 Metres, JUST NOT LISTENING was steadied away from the heels of FLYING LOVER which continued to race tight inside SEVENTY SEVENTY (Z Purton) after that horse got its head on the side and lay in when improving into tight running inside LA BOMBA. After the 700 Metres, DASHING DART was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING CONTROLLER.
Near the 600 Metres, INDIGENOUS STAR was steadied away from the heels of SEE ME NOW when unable to improve between that horse and ENJOY LIFE.
Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, SEE ME NOW was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ROYAL PREROGATIVE which shifted in under pressure. SEE ME NOW was then disappointed for running between ROYAL PREROGATIVE and THE FULL BLOOM passing the 150 Metres as THE FULL BLOOM shifted to the outside of WINNING CONTROLLER to obtain clear running.
When questioned regarding his riding of WINNING CONTROLLER after the 600 Metres, Apprentice C Wong stated that prior to the 600 Metres WINNING CONTROLLER had been racing immediately outside the leader ENREACHING which at this time was racing on the rail. He said when ROYAL PREROGATIVE improved its position around WINNING CONTROLLER after the 600 Metres, he commenced to niggle at WINNING CONTROLLER to ensure that he maintained his position inside that horse. He said whilst he was aware that WINNING CONTROLLER shifted out marginally rounding the Home Turn, he was unaware that it had shifted out to the degree that it did and which presented a run for STRATHSPEY to improve between WINNING CONTROLLER and ENREACHING. Apprentice Wong was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that he did not look to his inside during the relevant stages of the race and as such may have been unaware of the positioning of runners behind WINNING CONTROLLER, nonetheless he was severely reprimanded for allowing WINNING CONTROLLER to unnecessarily shift out after the 600 Metres and rounding the Home Turn. He was further advised to be attentive to the positioning of his mounts in regards to other horses and to ensure that he rides his mounts in a competitive manner so as to leave no room for query as to his intentions.
A veterinary inspection of SEE ME NOW and INDIGENOUS STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMAZING SATCHMO and ENJOY LIFE were sent for sampling.
<4/6/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>SEE ME NOW, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. SEE ME NOW was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a stiff and restricted action in all four limbs. Before being allowed to race again, SEE ME NOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:6 (700) UNIVERSITY HALL HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1600 m

On arrival at the Start, SLEEP EDUCATION, which was fractious in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was suitable to race.
AMAZING AGILITY began only fairly.
DARK KNIGHT began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of RACING LUCK which became unbalanced. DARK KNIGHT then shifted out, resulting in HO HO FEEL being steadied when crowded for room inside PERFECT TO PLAY which also became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by HO HO FEEL.
From the outside barriers, SLEEP EDUCATION and GREAT TREASURE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Also from a wide barrier, SUPER FORM was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
DARK KNIGHT lost its right front plate near the 1100 Metres.
Passing the 400 Metres, SLEEP EDUCATION was shifted in away from the heels of PERFECT TO PLAY. SLEEP EDUCATION then had some difficulty obtaining clear running and passing the 250 Metres was directed to the inside of GINO SEVERINI to continue improving.
Approaching the 200 Metres, SLEEP EDUCATION shifted in away from the heels of CROWN AVENUE and bumped AMAZING AGILITY, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Also approaching the 200 Metres, SUPER FORM shifted in when awkwardly placed outside the heels of RACING LUCK, resulting in Apprentice C Wong, the rider of SUPER FORM, having to stop riding and shift that horse out away from the heels of RACING LUCK.
Approaching the 100 Metres, GO BEAUTY GO shifted out, resulting in its rider, J Moreira, having to stop riding and straighten. GO BEAUTY GO then shifted in after the 100 Metres and inconvenienced SLEEP EDUCATION.
Throughout the race, PERFECT TO PLAY travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, T Berry (GINO SEVERINI) stated that he was instructed to ride the horse positively in the early stages and obtain a forward position. He said it was explained to him that GINO SEVERINI is one-paced and that with an anticipated lack of speed in the race the horse may be disadvantaged by being ridden back in the field. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode GINO SEVERINI along for a considerable distance in the early stages to obtain a forward position. He said he had to continue to ride GINO SEVERINI along approaching and passing the 1300 Metres to clear RACING LUCK to his inside. He said passing the 1200 Metres he was aware that he provided RACING LUCK with just enough clearance and therefore he was reluctant to immediately take hold of his mount as he did not want to place RACING LUCK in an awkward position behind GINO SEVERINI. He added this resulted in GINO SEVERINI racing slightly in advance of GO BEAUTY GO. He said in the middle stages GO BEAUTY GO, after initially racing slightly behind GINO SEVERINI, was allowed to improve its position to be racing on terms with his mount after the 900 Metres. He added GINO SEVERINI and GO BEAUTY GO subsequently raced on terms until rounding the Home Turn at which time GINO SEVERINI came under pressure and then weakened in the Straight. Mr M J Freedman, the trainer of GINO SEVERINI, confirmed that his instructions were to ride that horse positively. He said he anticipated that only GO BEAUTY GO would show pace and that stepping up in distance today provided GINO SEVERINI with the opportunity to obtain a forward position and sit outside the anticipated leader of the race GO BEAUTY GO. After having considered all the evidence, the Stewards reprimanded T Berry and informed him that whilst they accepted that he had to make some use of GINO SEVERINI to cross RACING LUCK after the 1200 Metres, there was an opportunity for him to steady the tempo gradually and sit off GO BEAUTY GO rather than continue to race directly to that horse’s outside in the middle stages which resulted in the race being run at a fast tempo. T Berry was advised to ensure that he rides his mounts in such a manner to provide them with the best opportunity to finish off their races.
Following the race, A Sanna expressed concern regarding the action of WINWIN RUBY. A veterinary inspection of WINWIN RUBY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, WINWIN RUBY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of AMAZING AGILITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

For the majority of the race, PRAWN BABA travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of PRAWN BABA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
THE GOLDEN AGE and BEAUTY ONLY were sent for sampling.
<4/6/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>PRAWN BABA, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. PRAWN BABA was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Size this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PRAWN BABA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

At the entrance to the Straight, AMAZING was awkwardly placed behind MICKEY RICH.
In the Straight, ENCOURAGING lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride.
The performance of EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding his riding of POWERMAX in the Straight, K C Ng stated that he used the whip on the horse in the early part of the Straight and again passing the 200 Metres. He said passing the 150 Metres POWERMAX shifted out and for this reason he rode the horse out hands and heels rather than continuing to use the whip. K C Ng was advised that his riding out of POWERMAX, particularly over the final 200 Metres, had come under notice and he must ensure that he rides his mounts in such a manner so that it is not open to query. Jockey Ng was further advised that the Stewards had had cause to question him on a number of occasions recently regarding his handling of horses and he was placed on notice in this respect.
When questioned regarding the performance of ROUNDABOUT, K Teetan stated that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages and after being placed under pressure in the early part of the Straight initially quickened satisfactorily. He said however that after the 200 Metres ROUNDABOUT’s run ended and the horse finished off the race in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection of ROUNDABOUT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MR WEALTH immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MR WEALTH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
COMFORT LIFE and LASTING FRIENDSHIP were sent for sampling.

SUMMER PASSAGE began awkwardly and then was bumped by ALWAYS WIN which shifted in abruptly. SUMMER PASSAGE then shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with ARCADA, causing both horses to become badly unbalanced. After this, from wide barriers, ARCADA and SUMMER PASSAGE were shifted across behind runners.
M L Yeung (ALWAYS WIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SUMMER PASSAGE, resulting in that horse, which was travelling keenly, having to be severely checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. In this incident, TEAM FORTUNE was bumped by SUMMER PASSAGE and ARCADA, which was following SUMMER PASSAGE, was checked away from the heels of that horse and forced wider when SUMMER PASSAGE shifted out. M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 17 June 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 28 June 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, M L Yeung was fined $15,000. After this incident, ALWAYS WIN travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
Near the 350 Metres, MISSION TYCOON and MONTREAL raced tight as MISSION TYCOON shifted out into clear running.
When questioned regarding the performance of MONTREAL, Z Purton stated that after sitting behind a good tempo, he expected MONTREAL to quicken nicely in the early part of the Straight. He said however after initially staying on, he was unable to prevent MISSION TYCOON from shifting out approaching the 300 Metres and after this MONTREAL gave ground abruptly to finish near the rear of the field. He added when pulling up after the race MONTREAL became badly unbalanced and stumbled which prompted him to dismount from the horse whilst still on the track. A veterinary inspection of MONTREAL immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor cut to the left hock. The performance of MONTREAL, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MONTREAL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
