COMMENTS AND PROSPECT:

GINO SEVERINI is sired by FASTNET ROCK, a catapulting stallion that, serving at stud since 2005, has produced 1,061 winners, or 70.03%, out of his 1,515 runners to date, with worldwide earnings just surpassing the AUS $145 million mark as of recent, including Manikato Stakes (AUS-GI) champion SEA SIREN, Australian Guineas (AUS-GI) winner MOSHEEN, super filly ATLANTIC JEWEL from Down Under, who was just one single victory short of perfection through a nine-race (9) career. At the same time, the general convention for a typical Australian sprinting FASTNET ROCK is slowly but gradually fading. In Hong Kong, for example, CAPTAIN SWEET and SICHUAN SUCCESS are already in the thick of Class 1, while BOOMING DELIGHT, an elder full-brother to RIVET, further earned his group bracket in the 1600-meter Lion Rock Trophy (HKG-GIII) at Sha Tin. With his first few crops debuting in the Northern Hemisphere, FASTNET ROCK is certainly firing on all cylinders as of late, with a slew of top performers that includes:

  • Man O' War Stakes (US-GI) heroine ZHUKOVA;
  • CATCHY, the dazzling juvenile upstart from Down Under, undefeated through three (3) starts with yet another feather on the cap recently in the Blue Diamond Stakes (AUS-GI); and
  • UNFORGOTTEN, who recently annexed the Australian Oaks (AUS-GI) at Randwick,

    Who are all proven to carry their speed over classic distances, and FASTNET ROCK, with his stud fee newly listed as private, is definitely a budding super-star at stud.

    In distance, many a FASTNET ROCK - born in the Northern Hemisphere - does get stamped more prominently by their respective dams; as for GINO SEVERINI, who has three strains of NORTHERN DANCER packed in 4S X 5S X 5D multiples - and a a nice Dosage (DP/DI) of 24/3.36 - he should be most effective at a mile or under.

    In track affinity, while FASTNET ROCK has been throwing much stronger turfers as of date, GINO SEVERINI, proven on soft and heavy goings in overseas, should handle a deeper cut in the turf.

    In general outlook, though FASTNET ROCK has been humming along with over 40% of winners in Hong Kong to date, the prospect for GINO SEVERINI, who merely scored once on heavy ground in a non-descript, restricted contest for three-year-olds, is just initially positive.
