OVERSEAS INFO:

Previously a Richard Fahey trainee racing as KRUGER PARK, SWEETIE BARLEY, victorious in one (1) of his two (2) starts in Great Britain, broke his maiden in a 1081-meter dash for Class 3 sophomores (BHA Classification) at York on September 4, 2016, for a purse of ĘG11,312. Coming out of that race, winner OCELOT, in time, scored twice more.

COMMENTS AND PROSPECT:

SWEETIE BARLEY is sired by REQUINTO, whose 4-0-1 record through eight (8) life-time starts all happened only in his juvenile season, whereas all his victories °V including a score each in Group II and Group III competition °V were tagged at 1000 meters. After a sixth-place (6) finish behind the likes of SOLE POWER and race winner TANGERINE TREES in the 2011 running of the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp (FR-GI), REQUINTO was retired to stud, and now has fourteen (14), or 53%, of his twenty-five (25) starters reaching the winner’s circle since the beginning of his second career in 2012. Yet to celebrate any Group I graduates, current Hong Kong campaigner PACKING STONES (A158), placed in the July Stakes (ENG-GI) while racing as BROKEN STONES back in Great Britain, is the top-earner to date amongst all jurisdictions for REQUINTO.

In distance, with a majority of his same-sire runners graduating at 1400 meters or under, SWEETIE BARLEY, equally bred for speed from underneath, should be a genuine sprinter.

In course preferences, out of DEFINITE OPINION, back in her racing days a winner on heavy goings, SWEETIE BARLEY, himself proven on good to soft ground through his overseas roll, should relish a deeper cut in the turf.

In general outlook, checking in town as a highly-referable Class 3 winner at York, Great Britain, SWEETIE BARLEY, so lightly raced with only a pair of starts under his belt, should improve by leaps and bounds, and be a legitimate cut-back winner against Class 3 opposition.
