  • Broke his maiden in a right¡Vhanded, 1600-meter maiden handicap at Gosford, New South Wales on November 9, 2016, for a purse of AUS$30,000; and
  • Scored again in a right¡Vhanded, 1800-meter restricted handicap for three-year-olds at Gold Coast, Queensland on January 7, 2017, for a purse of AUS$60,000.
  • COMMENTS AND PROSPECT:

MIGHTY BOY is sired by RED DAZZLER, back in his racing days a proven winner on four (4) occasions from 1200 to 1600 meters, including a Group I score in the Toorak Handicap (AUS-GI), and second-place efforts in both the Futurity Stakes (AUS-GI) and the George Main Stakes (AUS-GI). Retired since 2007, TINTO, the 2014 Queensland Oaks (AUS-GI) over 2400 meters, is the first and only Group I graduate to date for RED DAZZLER, whereas MIGHTY BOY is his first starter to showcase in Hong Kong.

In distance, hailing from the maternal family of ROMANTIC TOUCH and MR BOGART, MIGHTY BOY, himself proven from 1600 to 1800 meters in overseas, should be a middle-distance talent.

In course preferences, while having proven his soft-going penchant with a score in overseas, MIGHTY BOY is furthermore out of a HOLD THAT TIGER mare, the broodmare sire of which cost the Coolmore outfit a whopping US$1.1 million as yearling, won the Gran Criterium, now Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (FR-GI), at Longchamp, placed in both the Breeders¡¦ Cup Juvenile (US-GI) and the Woodward Stakes (US-GI) across the pond, and then as a stallion, fathered multiple Grade I winner SMILING TIGER, also in the United States. In all, this new import should be deep in all-weather racing.

In general outlook, by RED DAZZLER, far from a dazzling case on the racetrack, the prospect for MIGHTY BOY, himself merely a two-time winner against modest oppositions in overseas, is just initially positive.
