COMMENTS AND PROSPECT:

FAITHFUL BOY is sired by TEOFILO, a swiftly-maturing individual that, despite having raced only at two years of age, was a juvenile sensation back in that undefeated campaign of 2006 through five (5) career starts, and twice handled Group I company with style - incidentally both at 1400 meters. Entertaining broodmares at stud for quite a while afterwards, TEOFILO has in no time established himself as a top stallion in fathering precocious juvenile winners at group levels that step up to be hot stallion prospects. With such a short time frame in the context of financial returns, such progeny is particularly appealing to the breeders in Europe, who swiftly celebrates:

  • Criterium International (FR-GI) winner LOCH GARMAN ,
  • Prix Jean Prat (FR-GI) winner HAVANA GOLD
  • Irish Derby (IRE-GI) winner TRADING LEATHER,
  • Irish St. Leger (IRE-GI) winner VOLEUSE DE COEURS, and
  • Dewhurse Stakes (ENG-GI) winner PARISH HALL,

Whereas in Hong Kong, runners by TEOFILO are holding their own accordingly, with TEOFILO CALVA and EAGLE POWER winners in Class 2.

In distance, out of a proven winner from 1400 to 2400 meters, whereas his siblings have scored from 1200 to 2000 meters, FAITHFUL BOY is furthermore a maternal grandson of HONOR GRADES, a broodmare sire of which is particularly worthy of reference. As a middling on-track individual that later stunned the breeding world with resounding success, HONOR GRADES is the sire of:

  • 1999 Sword Dancer Invitational (US-GIT) winner HONOR GLIDE,
  • 2003 Breeders' Cup Distaff (US-GI) champion ADORATION, and
  • 2005 Clark Handicap (US-GII) winner MAGNA GRADUATE

Whereas ADORATION and MAGNA GRADUATE, in particular, has each surpassed the HK$15,000,000 mark in career earnings. With such versatility and middle / routing distance background inherited from his dam side, FAITHFUL BOY, with an abbreviated head-start at sprints, should be a genuine middle-distance talent in the long run.

In course preference, as a 4Sx3D DANZIG, FAITHFUL BOY should be a versatile individual that will likely handle both dirt and turf well.

In general outlook, out of HONOR LAP, a Group I heroine in her own right that later, re-inventing herself a broodmare, elevated her success to a whole new level, one that has delivered, with only a single exception, strictly winners out of all her previous foals, FAITHFUL BOY, quite a looker himself through the barrier trials in Hong Kong, should be a lovely winner in Class 4 as he comes into his own.
