    COMMENTS AND PROSPECT:

GOLD VELVET is sired by SAVABEEL, a two-time (2) Group I winner with three (3) career victories all inclusive, ranging from 1000 to 2400 meters. Keeping up with a relatively modest production since first book of mares in 2005, SAVABEEL surges nevertheless as one gem of a stallion that posts big numbers, where 407, or 66.61%, of his 611 starters in all jurisdictions to date have reached the winnerˇ¦s circle, in particular ten (10) Group I graduates since 2013, led by SANGSTER, a triple winner of the International Stakes (NZ-GI), Avondale Gold Cup (NZ-GI) and Auckland Cup (NZ-GI), whereas LUCIA VALENTINA, the Vinery Stud Stakes (AUS-GI) heroine, a starter in the Hong Kong Cup (HKG-GI), and HALL OF FAME also delivered in the Levin Classic (NZ-GI) this January, all the while thriving at middle and staying distances. In Hong Kong, VICTORY MAGIC, stakes-placed in both the Hong Kong Derby (HKG-GI) and the Hong Kong Champions and Chater Cup (HKG-GI), and FLAME HERO, a winner of the January Cup (HKG-GIII), are spearheading his local fraternity.

In distance, while SAVABEEL has established himself as a sire of good performers at a mile or under, GOLD VELVET, a foal out of the 1800-meter proven GIRLS ON TOP, should be a genuine middle-distance talent off a good foundation at sprints.

In track affinity, while a typical SAVABEEL has established its versatility, GOLD VELVET, a third-generation maternal grandson of 1998 Travers Stakes winner FORTY NINER, in time a successful stallion that has fathered:

  • Godolphin Mile (UAE-GII) winner UTOPIA,
  • Belmont Stakes (US-GI) hero EDITORˇ¦S NOTE, and
  • Yet another winner of the Travers Stakes (US-GI) that pops up in the next generation, this time in the form of CORONADOˇ¦S QUEST back in 1998,

Should, in all, be of good potential on dirt as well.

In general outlook, by the sensational SAVABEEL ˇV particularly in the Southern Hemisphere with a drove of group stakes graduates ˇV GOLD VELVET, whose maternal family also speaks volumes of success, will be a solid middle-distance winner in the make against Class 4 conditions.
