Celebrating the National Day at Sha Tin Racecourse
The
National Day Cup will be held on Monday, 1 October at Sha Tin Racecourse
to mark the 52th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic
of China. An opening ceremony will be held to celebrate the day and
Beijing's successful bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games.
Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony starts off with the playing of the National Anthem
by the Hong Kong Police Band, which will be followed by a moon-cake
cutting ceremony, bringing auspicious messages to everyone at the Mid-autumn
Festival. Meanwhile, there will also be a gymnastic performance by students
from the Jockey Club Ti-I College.

Limited editions of the souvenir cover specially designed to commemorate
the National Day will be available for sale at $10 each at Sha Tin and
Happy Valley Racecourses on 1 October. Racegoers are limited to a maximum
purchase of two.
Meanwhile, the "88" brand merchandise will also be first launched
on 1 October at the Gift Shops of the racecourses, the Hong Kong Racing
Museum and the Interactive and Exhibition Souvenir Galleries in Tsing
Yi, Tin Shui Wai and Ma On Shan. The "88" Polo T-shirts and
"88" baseball caps are sold at $150 and $60 respectively.
A special price of $188 will be offered to customers who buy the T-shirt-and-Cap
package.
