Plans for a multi-race, multimillion-dollar
Breeders' Cup Series were first aired in 1982 and the inaugural
Breeders' Cup was run at Aqueduct, New York in November 1984. Though
there is a considerable European presence each year, it is primarily
an all-American affair. Any foreign horse to win on the day is a
true giant of the turf. The Classic is run on dirt over 2000 metres,
and the Turf over 2400 metres. Tiznow won the Classic last
year, and defeating the Iron Horse Giant's Causeway.
