The battle to be world champion starts here

On March 24th 2001 at Nad Al Sheba racecourse in the United Arab Emirates, the world's richest race, the Dubai World Cup, heralds the third global search for a star known as the Emirates World Series Racing Championship.

This year's race is an exceptionally international affair with horses from seven countries taking part over the 2000m trip on dirt. Following the defection of Petrushka, 14 are confirmed for the race ahead of the final declarations on March 21 including multiple Grade 1 winner and Breeders' Cup Classic-placed Captain Steve along with Godolphin hopefuls Broche (a dual 2000 Guineas winner as a three-year-old), Ekraar and Best Of The Bests.

They will meet very smart Group performers Kingsalsa and Hightori from France, State Shinto from Japan, Early Warning from Saudi Arabia and Endless Hall from the UK. Our Aristotle represents Singapore.

The Dubai World Cup looks a lot more open than last year's race when it was so brilliantly won by the odds-on Dubai Millennium. Will there be a shock in the first leg of the World Series?

Will Godolphin win the race for the third consecutive year ?

Find out soon!

In addition, Ivan Allan's star trio of Fairy King Prawn (Dubai Duty Free, Gr.2), Daliapour and Indigenous(Dubai Sheema Classic, Gr.2), are representing Hong Kong in the Dubai World Cup events as well. Details...
