Brightest Diamond in Ascot
Run at
Ascot over 2400 metres, the King George usually features the Epsom
Derby winner against the best older horses around as it is traditionally
the first clash between the Classic generation and the older horses
in England. Quite often contested by small, select fields. It is
a race with a rich history and many still recall the "Race
of the Century" duel in 1975 between Grundy and Bustino.
Past winners of the race read
like a who's who of the Turf. In 2000, a scintillating performance
by Montjeu added his name to the list.
