In the 1950s, the community around the Happy Valley Racecourse had been developed too well that there was no further room to expand in order to satisfy the rapid growth of racing fans. Therefore, Sha Tin Racecourse was opened on 7th October 1978, and it has now become the home of numerous world's major racing events as well as public entertainment and charitable activities.
