Usher in an extra-special racing season on 14 September at Sha Tin Racecourse

The new racing season marks the 130th Anniversary of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and promises to be an unforgettable extravaganza.  Fans coming to Sha Tin Racecourse for the season opener (Photo 1) on Sunday 14 September will be greeted with a free 2014/15 Racing Calendar along with an Instant Win Card#.  The opening day will also see the first instalment of a huge double jackpot totalling HK$50 million^.  Racing fans who want to boost their luck should not miss the lucky gong formations at the racecourse’s main entrances.

Free door gift on arrival
Each racegoer will receive a complimentary 2014/15 Racing Calendar*(Photo 2), which looks back at 130 amazing years of local racing history, and an Instant Win Card# offering the chance to win one of 130 ornaments in 24K gold plate worth HK$2,388 each (Photo 3).  These free gifts and game cards will be distributed before the start of Race 5 or while stocks last.

Triple Trio dividends of HK$50 million
Special Triple Trio dividends totalling $50 million will be on offer to mark the start of the new season.  The estimated $30 million Triple Trio first prize for a single $10 winning unit on season opening day will be followed by a likely $20 million for the first Sha Tin night meeting of the season on Wednesday 17 September.

Specially-designed merchandises
Eye-catching range T-shirts (Photo 4) and duffle bags (Photo 5) illustrating the spectacular Happy Valley Racecourse have been specially-designed by renowned Japanese artist Kiyoko Yamaguchi for the opening of the new season.  These limited edition items, along with other merchandise in "horse camouflage" style, will be available from 14 September onwards.

Spectacular opening ceremony featuring 130 dancing lions
HKSAR Chief Secretary for Administration, The Hon Mrs Carrie Lam, has been invited to perform the season opening ceremony by striking the ceremonial gong in the Parade Ring, followed by the traditional eye-dotting of the lions.  This year’s ceremony will feature a 130-strong lion dance performance to mark the Club’s 130th Anniversary (Photo 6).  Jockeys will line up to wish everyone the best of luck for the year ahead.

Sha Tin Racecourse will open for admission at 11:00 am on Sunday 14 September.  There will be 10 races on the card, with the first starting at 1:00 pm.  The day’s highlight will be the HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup.
