Happy Wednesdays will return to Happy Valley Racecourse in style later this month, when lively, beer-filled Oktoberfest parties will be celebrated on 22 and 29 October, with another to follow on 12 November (Photos 1, 2, 3). This year’s three boisterous Bavarian beer-fests will include top on-stage entertainment as well as fiendishly challenging competitions for fantastic prizes.
Savour ice-cold German beer and gourmet food
Oktoberfest just wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without litres of refreshingly crisp, cold beer from leading German and global beer brands. This year, fans can savour 11 different brews.
Equally moreish will be the wide selection of traditional fare that The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s German-born Executive Chef Bruno Burg and his team invite fans to enjoy at the Beer Garden takeaway counters. Menu items include:

Enjoy exciting on-site games
In addition to cheering on their favourite horses and enjoying the superb on-stage entertainment, fans can join fun-filled interactive games which will be running trackside all night to make sure the excitement never wavers.
To add to the fun atmosphere, partygoers will be able to participate in various exciting games to win fantastic prizes. The “Perfect Draught Pouring” challenge requires good technique to pour the perfect pint from a tap. Contestants who generate just the right amount of foam on top of the beer will be awarded a prize (Photo 8). The all-time favourite “Speed Drinking Contest” offers vouchers to the value of HK$2,000 and HK$3,000 respectively for the singles and doubles section winners (Photo 9). Also not to be missed is the “Cheer Up Challenge” (Photo 10).
Be there on opening night
On the opening night of the Happy Valley Oktoberfest, Wednesday 22 October, Consul-General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nikolaus Graf Lambsdorff, and CEO of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, will be invited to pour and quaff the first stein of Oktoberfest beer. Top German bands will also be on hand to entertain Valley fans all evening long.
