Adjourned Inquiry - Race 6 (80) V 12 October 2014 Sha Tin Race Meeting

16/10/2014

The Stewards today concluded their inquiry into the reason for STAG KNIGHT being checked at the 1000 Metres during the running of the Silvermine Bay Handicap at the Sha Tin racemeeting conducted on Sunday, 12 October 2014.  Evidence was taken from Apprentice C Y Lui (POLYMER WIN), K Teetan (STAG KNIGHT) and Mr P F Yiu, the allocated trainer of Apprentice Lui.

Apprentice Lui pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of STAG KNIGHT, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.  Apprentice Lui was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 30 October 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).  The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Sunday, 19 October 2014.
