G1 - 2400m – Turf

1

Telescope

In his last two races, he finished second to Taghrooda in the G1 King George at Ascot and third to Australia in the G1 Juddmonte International at York. Before that, took down the G2 Hardwicke Stakes at Ascot. Must be considered.

2

Twilight Eclipse

Has endured a string of three close calls in East Coast G1 events -- all at the hands of Main Sequence. Sixth in last year's Breeders' Cup Turf but beaten only 2 1/4 lengths for it all. Finished up the track in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic in March.

3

Imagining

One of a trio that has battled tooth-and-nail on the East Coast this summer, finishing second and third -- both times behind Main Sequence -- in a pair of G1 Events. Runs out front and is proven at the distance. His turn?

4

Brown Panther

Won for the first time at G1 level in the Irish St Leger (2800m) in his last actual start but bolted before the Canadian International in his last entry and was scratched. He has won 5 of 7 starts at this distance. Tough to discount entirely.

5

Hangover Kid

Stepped up to win the G2 Bowling Green Handicap at Belmont Park in July. He has shown ability in top company but the bulk of his wins came at the expense of fellow New York-breds.

6

Finnegans Wake

Narrowly missed in the G2 John Henry Turf Championship over the course in his last outing and won the G3 Arlington Handicap before that. Will be running late but so will many others. Ambitious placing.

7

Flintshire

Andre Fabre brings the colt who finished second to Treve in the Arc a month ago and second to Ruler Of The World in the G2 Prix Foy a month before that. A repeat of the Arc run would put him right in contention.

8

Magician

Last year's Breeders' Cup Turf winner comes off a somewhat shocking disappointment when second in the G1 Arlington Million in August. In the interim, he was second to Noble Mission, then The Fugue, in a pair of G1 events in Ireland and England. Could repeat here with the right trip.

9

Hardest Core

Surprised just about everyone by catching Magician in deep stretch to win the G1 Arlington Million in his last start -- first time in graded stakes company. He has won six of 11 lifetime starts and likely will need another jump forward to take this one.

10

Starspangled Heat

California-bred 6-year-old has been useful on the local circuit but less so in three recent tries at the graded stakes level. Last two wins came in the optional claiming ranks.

11

Chicquita

Four-year-old filly was dynamite last year, second to Treve in the French Oaks and victorious in the Irish Oaks. Hasn't broken through yet this season and was third behind Madame Chiang last time out in the G1 British Champions Fillies & Mares. Before that, 15th in the Arc.

12

Main Sequence

Has won all three U.S. starts since shipping from England. All were G1 events and the margins of victory were a neck, a head and a neck, indicating he does what he needs to do or what jockey Rajiv Maragh judges for him. John Velazquez will be on board this time. Somewhat less effective in England last season at the same level. Will be well backed.

13

Big John B

Won three straight against lighter competition this summer at Santa Anita and Del Mar but finished third in his last outing, the G2 John Henry Turf Championship. Needs to improve to figure here.
