Rich Tapestry thriving ahead of Breeders Cup challenge

30/10/2014

Rich Tapestry is three days out from the climax of his great American adventure, Saturdays G1 Breeders Cup Sprint (1200m dirt), and Michael Changs stable star looked a picture of health and happiness as he enjoyed easy exercise at Santa Anita this morning (Wednesday, 29 October).

Roman Emperor six-year-old emerged onto the track shortly before 8.30am and stood patiently in the warming California sunshine alongside his accompanying pony. After a few minutes, the two horses set out on a slow trot down the backside and around to the end of the home stretch, where work rider Vincent Sit turned back and took Rich Tapestry through a little more than a lap at a steady canter.

He had easy work this morning and he seemed to enjoy it. He will do more tomorrow V Ill work him a little harder tomorrow and then take things easy on Friday. Hes ready, said Chang, as he walked with his horse back to the barn that has been the geldings home for the past month.

xed horse, very easy to deal with, which is why he travels so well. Within three days of arriving he looked like an American horse V he does everything here so easily, added the handler.

h Tapestry is drawn in Gate six for the dirt contest, which is staged over the same course and distance as his recent victory in the G1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship on 4 October.
