The Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast for betting the Japan Cup from Tokyo Racecourse during the Sha Tin race meeting on Sunday, 30 November. (Race time 2:55pm)
Now at its 34th running, the Japan Cup (G1 2400M for 3yo+) is rated one of the most important mile and a half contests in the world alongside the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup Turf. With a total prize of approximately HK$34 million it is the richest race staged by the Japan Racing Association.
Once again leading the home defence is Japan’s best older mare Gentildonna who is bidding for an unprecedented third win in the Japan Cup. She will be joined by Just A Way, the leader of the LONGINES World's Best Racehorse Rankings since his spectacular victory in the Dubai Duty Free back in March, and star 3yo filly Harp Star who finished an eye-catching 6th in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe most recently.
Final declarations with barrier draws for the Japan Cup will be available on the afternoon of Thursday, 27 November.
