The LONGINES Hong Kong International Races (LHKIR) (photo 1) are well recognised as the "Turf World Championships" and this year will be held on Sunday 14 December at Sha Tin Racecourse. Fans coming to Sha Tin to witness the world-class racing action can also enjoy an array of special trackside activities, including a free LHKIR cap as a souvenir.
To help build excitement for the big day, the LONGINES International Jockeys' Championship (LIJC) (photo 2) will be held on Wednesday 10 December, featuring some of the world’s best jockeys. LONGINES Ambassador of Elegance, actress Lin Chi Ling (photo 3), will make a special appearance at the presentation ceremony.

Happy Valley Racecourse
- The opening race of the evening will start at 6:30 pm. After Race 4, the 12 competing riders in the LIJC will join a special opening ceremony on the turf track. This will be followed by a spectacular pyrotechnic display (photo 4).
- Twelve world-class international jockeys, amongst them three Hong Kong representatives, will battle it out for the coveted title, cheered on by ambassadors in colourful costumes (photo 5).
- Racegoers can vote for their favourite jockey to earn a free beer, while stocks last. Fans creating the best cheering slogan will have the chance to win one of two Samsung Galaxy Note Edge mobile phones, worth HK$7,498 each (photo 6).
- A wide selection of local and international culinary treats will be on offer at the Trackside Food Kiosk at the Happy Valley Racecourse.

Racegoers entering Sha Tin Racecourse on 14 December will receive a complimentary LHKIR Souvenir Cap (photo 7) as a free gift (before Race 5 or while stocks last).
Celebrities add star power
Renowned movie star Eddie Peng (photo 8), another LONGINES Ambassador of Elegance this year, will be among many celebrities attending this world-famous race meeting. Renowned Cantopop singer Miriam Yeung (photo 9) will help get the day off to a memorable start by performing some of her all-time favourites at the Opening Variety Show.
Spectacular opening extravaganza
Also entertaining racing fans at the Opening Variety Show will be the pulsating rhythms of Ban’s Gig Drums Troupeto. The Shenzhen Fuyong Acrobatic Troupe will be there, too, performing their classic Guinness World Record hula-hoop act “The Light of Technology” (photo 10). The show will be held in the Parade Ring, starting at 11:25 am.
After Race 2, participating jockeys in the LHKIR, as well as senior HKJC and LONGINES officials, will gather in the Parade Ring to greet racing fans and mark the official start of combat in this year's International Races.
LONGINES Prize for Elegance
The tradition of attending major racedays in their most elegant attire – carefully selected headwear for the ladies and smart suits for the gentlemen – continues today. This year, LONGINES will perpetuate this delightful culture by awarding the "LONGINES Prize for Elegance". A photographer will snap pictures of beautifully-dressed race attendees and invite them to enter the competition. The winner will receive a LONGINES watch presented by Eddie Peng.
International cuisine available at Mezza One
A wide selection of local and international culinary treats will be on offer at Mezza One, the food plaza at Sha Tin Racecourse. All dishes will be prepared with their traditional ingredients and seasonings to ensure that racing fans can savour a unique and authentic eating experience.
Exclusive LHKIR souvenirs on sale
Merchandise counters will offer a range of exclusive LHKIR souvenirs (photo 11) including jackets, polo shirts, accessories and more.
Pyrotechnic farewell after last race
Rounding the day off perfectly after the last race will be a spellbinding pyrotechnic display, lighting up the night sky in honour of the 2014 LHKIR champions.
