Club appoints Gerard Bush as Stipendiary Steward

The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today, Friday, 28 November, that Gerard Bush has been appointed to the position of Stipendiary Steward.

Mr. Bush, 40, is a Stipendiary Steward with noteworthy international experience across prominent racing jurisdictions. He is currently working as a Stipendiary Steward with Racing Victoria Ltd in Australia.  Prior to that Mr. Bush was Chief Steward with the Emirates Racing Authority in the UAE, a position he held from 2006 until 2013. He joined the ERA as a Stipendiary Steward and Racing Administrator in 2003.

As ERA Chief Steward, Mr. Bush was responsible for chairing all race meetings conducted in the UAE, including the prestigious Dubai World Cup meeting. He was also a member of the ERA Steering Committee overseeing and implementing amendments to the Rules of Racing and operational procedures in that jurisdiction.

He began his career in 1998 as a Cadet Stipendiary Steward with the Western Australian Turf Club and was appointed as a Stipendiary Steward in that jurisdiction in 2000.

Mr. Bush will assume his new post with the Hong Kong Jockey Club on 1 February, 2015.  He will replace Philip Dingwall, who has left the Club to pursue other opportunities.
