The LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship (photo 1) to be held this Wednesday (10 December) at Happy Valley Racecourse will see the world’s best riders take centre stage. Fans joining this “King of the Valley” decider can also enjoy an array of special trackside activities, including the chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge smartphone.
King of the Valley decider
The opening race of the evening will start at 6:30 pm. After Race 3, the 12 competing jockeys in the LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship will join officiating guests on the turf track for a special opening ceremony (photo 2), to be followed by a spectacular pyrotechnics display. Races 4, 5, 7 and 8 will be run as the four legs of the Championship. The trophy presentation will be held on the turf immediately after completion of the final leg. Renowned actress Lin Chi Ling (photo 3) will make a special appearance to present a souvenir to the winning jockey.
Chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
All racegoers will be welcome to join the "Vote for Your Favourite International Jockey" game and receive a souvenir pack. They can join the game through the following channels:
- Visit the voting booth, complete the voting form and jot down why you are cheering for your chosen jockey. Participants will receive a free beer coupon and a national flag bow tie as a souvenir.
- Pose with your favourite jockey photo frame, tag your photo with #IJC2014 and the designated tag of your favourite jockey, then upload to Facebook or Instagram with a supporting message. Participants will receive a HK$50 food and beverage coupon and a national flag bow tie as a souvenir.
Those participants who vote for the winning jockey and create the most outstanding message will have the chance to win one of two Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (photo 4) smartphones, worth HK$7,498 each.
In addition, The Hong Kong Jockey Club will present a range of international cuisine at the trackside food counters to delight the palates of racegoers.

Twelve international ambassadors in colourful costume will also be on hand to meet and greet racegoers.
Live band performances will be staged during the intervals between races, featuring renowned singer-songwriter Ben Semmens.
Nine races have been scheduled for the evening. Admission to Happy Valley Racecourse starts at 4:30 pm.
