LONGINES Hong Kong Mile V post-race quotes in finish order

14/12/2014

1 ABLE FRIEND – Joao Moreira: “He’s amazing with a great turn of foot. He’s the best horse I’ve ever sat on.”

2 GOLD-FUN – Douglas Whyte: “We wanted to change things up a bit. Take the initiative and make the pace. He ran very well but obviously was no match for the winner.”

3 GRAND PRIX BOSS – Yasunari Iwata: “He drove strongly in the stretch.”

4 WORLD ACE – Zac Purton: “He was slow out of the gates but I had a nice ride afterwards and he went on nicely.  We took the bend inside and had every chance then.  He seemed a bit one-paced at the furlong pole but then finished on strongly, which suggests that he might want 2000m in the future.”

5 GLORIOUS DAYS – Mirco Demuro: “He ran well. It was not the perfect race for him – I needed something to take me into the race but there was nothing there to do that for me and I had to go sooner than would have been ideal.”

6 FIERO – Yuichi Fukunaga: “He was not versatile today.  As he started from the most inside draw, I could not switch him to the outside position smoothly.”

7 TRADE STORM – Jamie Spencer: “He goes on quick ground but that was hard. It looks like he was my last ride.”

8 HANA’S GOAL – Nash Rawiller: “She ran tremendous today and showed huge improvement today. She’ll be spot on for the Stewards’ Cup after that.”

9 SECRET SHAM – Neil Callan: “We went a bit too quick early on and Gold-Fun was pressing me a bit too much and he passed me. I thought we were going a good enough gallop but he is not up to that class.”

10 CAPTAIN CAT – James Doyle: “I followed the winner but could not go with him. He was struggling half way down the back. ”
