SUPER TALENT (S344) - 25 January 2015 Sha Tin Racemeeting

22/01/2015

The Stewards have spoken with Trainer T P Yung regarding his application to add a tongue tie to the gear worn by SUPER TALENT.  SUPER TALENT was successful at its last race start on 1 January 2015 when racing with blinkers and a ring bit but without a tongue tie.

Mr Yung advised that when being pulled up after its most recent race start, Jockey Douglas Whyte, who rode the horse that day, reported that the horse had made an abnormal breathing noise.  It was then noted that SUPER TALENT had got its tongue over the bit.  Mr Yung further advised that he had decided to apply a tongue tie to SUPER TALENT during its track work since that day and the horse had not experienced any subsequent issues.  He was therefore of the view that the horse would benefit from the addition of this piece of gear which would prevent it from getting its tongue over the bit.

Having considered the merits of Mr Yung’s application and after having consulted Jockey Whyte, the Stewards have approved for SUPER TALENT to wear a tongue tie in The Heritage Handicap (Race 5) at the Sha Tin racemeeting to be conducted on 25 January 2015.
