Four-year-old elites gear up for Derby qualification

Plenty of the four-year-old elites are in much stronger forms after the first battle of the four-year-olds in bid to qualify for the 2015 BMW Hong Kong Derby on 15 Mar.

As at 26 Jan, DIVINE CALLING is the highest rated horse among the Derby entries with the current rating of 106, followed by the HKG1 Hong Kong Classic Mile Champion BEAUTY ONLY, who got 103.

Other potential Derby contestants also gave impressive performances in other races to boost their ratings. GOT FLY, with a rating of 93, ROMANTIC TOUCH, 90 and BRILLIANT SHINE, 92, were the winners  of races on 18 Jan at Sha Tin, 21 Jan at Happy Valley and 25 Jan at Sha Tin respectively.

In seven weeks’ time ahead of the 2015 BMW Hong Kong Derby, the elites will strive their best at several races, including the HKG1 Hong Kong Classic Cup, which is the second leg of the four-year-olds on 15 Feb, the Class 2 1600m race on 1 Feb, the Centenary Vase and the Class 2 1400m race on 7 Feb, the Class 2 1600m and 2000m races on 15 Feb, the Chinese New Year Cup on 21 Feb, the Hong Kong Gold Cup on 1 Mar and also the Class 2 1800m race, to prove their competence.
