Sha Tin Racecourse to be bursting with luck on Chinese New Year Raceday

13/02/2015

To start the Chinese New Year on a high note, the Club is hosting its ever-popular Chinese New Year Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on Saturday 21 February, the third day of the lunar calendar.  Among the many attractions on offer will be a fortune formation on the Public Forecourt, designed by famous Feng Shui master Mak Ling Ling to summon good luck and prosperity for this special occasion.

This auspicious display will be a must-visit attraction for racegoers seeking an abundant and successful year.  Enormous goat and horse statuettes will stand alongside well-known “lucky” decorations such as coins, rice, gold ingots and jewels, all of which represent the eternity of wealth and well-being in the Chinese tradition.

Master Mak reveals that “3” and “5” are the lucky numbers of the day, and the most propitious period will be between 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Visitors to the racecourse are encouraged to dress in light blue or green to improve their winning potential, while clothing with wavy or pin-striped patterns will also be good.

Racegoers on 21 February will be able to hear more of Master Mak's predictions as she will host a fortune telling session after race 2, 5 and 6 in the Tipster Forum on the 1st floor of Public Grandstand II, sharing tips on enhancing health, wealth and success in the Year of the Goat.

Sha Tin Racecourse will open at 10:30 am that day, with the first race starting at 12:30 pm.  The 11-race card will include the highly anticipated Chinese New Year Cup (1400m).  All racegoers must be aged 18 or above.
