$1.8 million jackpot for Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool to celebrate Chinese New Year

23/02/2015

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will for the first time allocate a Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool jackpot to celebrate the seventh day of Chinese New Year (Wednesday 25 February), with a total of $1.8 million on offer.

Nine races have been scheduled for that night's meeting.  The jackpot will be allocated to the second leg of the Triple Trio and the last race, i.e. Races 6 and 9, with each carrying a $900,000* top-up.  Ticket sales for the Merged Pool will be available from 12:00 noon tomorrow, 24 February.

Quartet and First 4 were combined into a Merged Pool with effect from 18 January, at which time it was also announced that there would be a Jackpot Reserve Pool.  Jackpots will be allocated to the Merged Pool on specific race days, so as to offer racing fans a higher return.

The arrangement for allocating the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool jackpots will follow these general principles:

  1. The jackpot will be added to two designated races – the second leg of Triple Trio and the last race – on the final meeting of each month, whether that is a day or night meeting. Tentative allocation schedule for the rest of the season is as follows:

Date

Race Meeting

Sunday 29 March

Sha Tin Day Meeting

Wednesday 29 April

Happy Valley Night Meeting

Sunday 31 May

Sha Tin Day Meeting

Saturday 27 June

Sha Tin Day Meeting

  1. Depending on the amount of jackpot reserve accumulated, the Club will also consider arranging jackpots for all races in a meeting on one or two occasions in a season; or for meetings on certain festive days, such as 1 January or Chinese New Year.

The Club will announce further details of the arrangements nearer the time of each meeting that is scheduled to carry a Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool jackpot.

*The jackpot amount will be included in the calculation of the odds of the Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool to show customers an estimated payout.
