Futurity Stakes Form Comments

G1 1400m Turf

1

Dissident

Impressive winner of the Orr Stakes, at this class, course and distance, on 14 February. Sat just behind the speed and swept home convincingly to win by 1.5 lengths from Entirely Platinum. Five starts this distance for three wins and two seconds.

2

Smokin’ Joey

Finished hard to win G3 Carlyon Cup at 1600m at this track on 14 February. Back to 1400m and up to G1 level but did finish alongside Dissident at his previous start at 1200m. Needs pace on.

3

Bull Point

Satisfactory effort at first run since November when 1.6 lengths 5th to Heart Testa in Randwick 1200m G3 Southern Cross Stakes on 14 February. Better suited at 1400m. Can improve.

4

Entirely Platinum

Led and held on well when 1.5 lengths 2nd to Dissident in Caulfield 1400m G1 Orr Stakes on 14 February. That was first run since October and likely to be fitter.

5

Mister Milton

Sound on pace effort when 1.1 lengths 3rd to Jacquinot Bay in Sandown 1600m Hcp on 7 February. Up in class and won only two of 40 starts. Place chance best hope.

6

Guest Of Honour

First start for David Hayes (formerly Marco Botti) and first start since failing to finish in the 2014 Cox Plate won by Adelaide. The 1400m may be too short but has run well fresh at 1600m in the UK.

7

Driefontein

Tough, consistent mare who races on the pace. Sound effort when long neck 2nd to Heart Testa in Randwick 1200m G3 Southern Cross Stakes on 14 February. Placed three of eight at 1400m. Not won beyond 1300m. Place.

8

Suavito

Talented filly who hasn't raced since late last year when won Fillies And Mares races at 1600m and 2000m. Did win first-up at this course and distance last time in and top jockey Damien Oliver sticks with her.
